Amplicomms BigTel 280 Big Button Amplified Cordless Single DECT Telephone with Answering Machine - Silver

I got this as a birthday present for my Mother who is a bit deaf. All the phones seem to make her hearing aids sing in her ear and she has to use speaker phone . I went onto the deaf societies web page to see what they recommended and they recommend this phone. This phone is great. She can now listen to the earpiece etc. and there is no playback to her hearing aid and she hears it crystal clear. She said 'This is the first time in years I haven't struggled to hear people on the phone' so job done and Mom is happy. It has lots of useful features, is very easy to set up and seems to have decent build quality and the price is excellent. Recommended

We bought one for my parents and one for our reception as it is sometimes hard to hear the phone over people in the shop sometimes. on that count it works brilliantly. BUT, considering it is meant for mainly older people, I would imagine, it is quite hard to operate some of the buttons, especially the delete message button, sometimes it works sometimes not, it can be very annoying, and has caused us to lose messages,by taking to long to work. this is the same on the parents phone. Its a shame as the volume side is really good.

This phone did not meet my expectations and need to return it for a refund.Rings twice before going straight to answer machine.Couldnt answer any calls because it said D TAM IN SERVICE on the handset.Poor reception when you eventually got to speak to someone and boost button only increased the interference when on speakerphone.Suffering with poor hearing,i expected this to be the answer,but no,not good.I just need a cordless phone with answer machine which is loud and clear when talking,only problem is,you have to keep buying one and trying it to see if its clear enough or not.This one was crackly when on speaker and not much different trying to talk normally,hence the 1 star,sorry.

This phone does the business! The volume control is excellent and the buttons are easy to see. The screen shows 3 names with 1 highlighted from your phone book entries - can be confusing - need to be careful but it's not too difficult. Also we are forever pressing the volume controls by mistake as they are on the side of the phone when you pick it up or hold it....but makes it easy to adjust during a call. Other than those 2 little glitches it's really easy to use and heaven to hear everyone we talk to. The boost button for volume is superb! Answerphone works great too - easy to operate and very clear. I purchased this for my Mom who is 91 and has hearing difficulties and rheumatic fingers. The phone works very well and was straightforward to programme with her telephone numbers. I do have some doubt about her doing the input herselfas she is not technically inclined! She finds using the phone easy and the sound levels excellent. The dial pads large buttons are ideal and the phones size is a great help whereas smaller phones are hard to grip.

Bought this for my partially sighted, elderly mum as she is also hard of hearing. She finds it difficult to understand so put it back in the box which now sits in the cupboard!

I bought this for my father, who is profoundly deaf. It was very easy and straightforward to set up. The clarity of sound is excellent both from the phone and the answer machine. My father can hear me so much better than he could on his previous phone and answer machine, which were supposedly for people with hearing problems. Now we can have a normal phone conversation, with no need for me to repeat several times what I say. Even though I have perfect hearing, I am so impressed, I am considering buying myself one.

The extra volume is perfect and the normal volume is spot on for my partner. However there is a crackling whenever the phone is in use. This is also noticed by whoever is on the other end of the line. Frustrating in normal circumstances but even more so for the hard of hearing.
