Best football this generation and last generation.
I'll start off by saying I haven't bought a PES game since PES 2013 which I sold and later bought FIFA 13. Last generation FIFA 09, PES 10 and FIFA 13 were the games that I got most enjoyment from but this beats them all. Unlike FIFA, the gameplay isn't scripted, player movement and the gameplay mechanics are a lot more realistic. For some reason scoring a goal on the PES games has always been more enjoyable than FIFA. Players look realistic and move fluidily enough. The one thing that continues to plague the series is the licensing problem. Manchester United are the only licensed PL team which isn't good enough and the Portuguese League isn't much better. There isn't a Bundesliga, many player names are fake and the odd player is missing, anyone spotted Dummett (Newcastle)? I'm tired of using edit mode every time I buy a PES game, I don't have anywehre near as much as I did in my teenage years (having the European competitions is great but they can surely do more). The only other negatives is the repetitve commentary, many players don't have a commentary name so when they receive the ball you don't hear a thing (this is basic) and the menus could be better. Online play is great, not one laggy game, the gameplay has been smooth for the duration of the match. The community is very good, only one player has quit when I up 4-0. A lot of addictive games modes which will keep me entertained for a very long time. People have been saying this for years but its true - if PES had the polish that FIFA had it would hands down be the best football game. The NBA 2K series dethroned the NBA Live (EA) series and they haven't recovered. Konami could and should be selling more copies than the stagnant game known as FIFA. 9/10 I can't give it a 10/10 due to the lack of polish.

Bought this after watching the Euro's and it's brilliant. Even comes bundled with the full 2016 version ...
As a noob to PS4 in July 2016 I bought this because I fancied a bit of footie gaming action and I am a sucker for World Cup editions. Bought this after watching the Euro's and it's brilliant. Even comes bundled with the full 2016 version of PES so you are getting a lot of game for your money. Is it better than FIFA? I have played both and I actually prefer this. I was swayed by a reviewer who moaned that it wasn't any good because you couldn't get sent off for a bad sliding tackle. Well as a casual gamer that really swung it for me and it's true! It's very hard to get a red card. Phew! I love it an dI don't give a fig that it doesn't have the 'proper' club names or correct kits. It's a football game that plays really well. Great for just picking up and diving in when you have had a hard day. If I could have bought FIFA cheaper then maybe I would have done, but then I would be none the wiser about this fantastic game. Only buy if you don't care about the 'official' kits and club names etc. As I don't support a team I really didn't care. Great game.

Now I have tried PES before and liked it but found myself drawn back to the glitz ...
To be perfectly honest, I am a FIFA fan through and through, however, because of the price I thought I'd give this a go. Now I have tried PES before and liked it but found myself drawn back to the glitz and hype of the FIFA franchise. Now back to PES Euro 2016. The set up is a tad slow and a lot to take in but.... once sorted.... WOW! I love the game play!...I'm told that's what PES is all about but there must have been several changes since I last played because I found myself not wanting to put the controls down for hours! Scripting put me off FIFA but I did not at any point feel this game is scripted! (I'm talking about FUT on fifa and MyClub on PES). If you are unaware of the term 'game scripting', Google it! Anyway I'm not going to tell you all anything you've not already heard about he two top footie games out there so I will sign off by saying: This is a bargain as specially as you get the full PES 2016 game not just the Euro bit. Game play is awesome, graphics awesome and it feels sooooo good when you score cus you feel like you've 'earned' it.

PES is back
was a good game of football...really authentic shame that they never managed to sort out the transfers but watching videos for 2017 looks like Konami have noticed and will be sorted for that version. The gameplay is fantastic and the ball moves from one team to the next realistically ...the good old days of PES are back.

PES 2016 review for Master League aficionados
I know most of you youngsters only care about your myClub and online and all that nonsense, but for me PES has always been about Master League. For the rest of you old dinosaurs out there that feel the same here's what's good and bad about this year's entry. Pros: - Its fun! I used to be addicted to PES back in the halcyon PS2 days, but I haven't touched a football game in years as I've found recent games to be far too much of a boring simulation. This game however is pacy and exciting for the most part. - The animations are astounding. Seriously I can't praise this aspect of the game enough. The way players tussle with each other for the ball, or the way a player moves their body to receive or make a pass is astonishingly realistic and the number of unique animations seems almost limitless. - The ball physics are very realistic. This seems to compliment the animations aspect very well. The ball feels 'loose' rather than stuck to a players feet and this can lead to some unpredictable goals. - Decent presentation. Licences like the UEFA Champions League are very authentically portrayed, and the menus aren't cursed with incessant J-Pop like the PES of old. - Gareth Bale handsomely adorns the cover. Cons: - There's no fouls. Honestly its like watching a football game from the 1950s at times. The referee will pretty much always play advantage for even the most horrific of sliding tackles and will rarely penalise the offending player with a card. What's perhaps worse however is that standing tackles can be attempted from almost any angle and never be consider a foul. Strong forwards are far too easily hacked and muscled off the ball. I've played through an entire ML season and not had a single penalty, like I'm playing every game away at Old Trafford. - The AI only scores through ball goals. No crosses, no jinking runs, no long range screamers. Nope, just through balls. Sometime they do lofted through balls, just for a bit of variety. - The AI also has a tendency to stubbornly mark your strikers, leaving someone from midfield or fullback to basically run 50 yards unopposed and have a strike on the edge of the box. - Transfers are very unrealistic. In my second season as Swansea City, having finished second the previous season, I was able to sign Mario Goetze and Gerard Pique....ON LOAN!! Yes that's right, two European giants loaned out their superstars to an up-and-coming team from South Wales. The transfer fees are equally ridiculous. Apparently Gareth Bale is worth only £20 million and John Terry is somehow worth £14 million. Maybe a decade ago perhaps, but not now. - There's virtually no injuries. This has always been a bugbear of mine as dealing with injury crises is an integral part of the management experience, and I don't think I've ever played a football game that has replicated it. - There's pretty heavy handed scripting. When I refer to scripting I don't mean to suggest the game has pre-determined the outcome, but rather the games AI scripts are adapted to try and create drama and simulate things like momentum and derby day shenanigans. After the first half of the season I looked over my results to see I had won nine games 2-1, with numerous late goals saving the day. The game actually gives you pretty good stats on things like when you are conceding or scoring goals, so I could also see how many times either myself or the opposition were scoring either just before half time or near the end of the match. It got to a point where even the commentator would remark on how often I was conceding goals before half time. My frustration reached its zenith when I won a cup final 5-4 and literally rolled my eyes. When a cup final win feels this empty is when you know perhaps they've overdone the scripting. - Minanda, Ximelez, Vornander and all those other greats are no longer part of ML. This makes me sad. All in all a decent game. Not quite a title winner, but it just about scraped a European spot.

Socceriffic
Pro evo 3 - with perluigi colongne on the cover was one of my all time favourite games. This version captures the magic of that one. Not entirely because it lacks the classic national teams. But in terms of playability and the full soccertastic experience with the controls feeling fluid and translating to an honest portrayal of movement and true representation of difficulty in executing complex manoeuvres and build up play, this is as good as it gets. Forget FIFA this is where soccer heads come to get a piece of the beautiful game.

Bargain!
It's a bargain price for a great game. Great gameplay and fun modes. The only downside is they don't have licenses to premier league teams but on PC and ps4 you can download the kits and badges.
