Islamic Art of Illumination: Classical Tazhib from Ottoman to Contemporary Times Paperback – 1 Aug. 2015

This is an excellent book for those interested in Islamic art, with information on various styles and techniques. A very useful guide to those who draw and paint and probably also for those looking for a good coffee table guide to a fascinating artistic genre. Very glad I bought it. I was less thrilled by Amazon having used UPS as it’s delivery partner in Pakistan. The book was sent to the wrong city, UPS tried to deliver to the wrong address and I spent three hours on the phone to Amazon uk but it did arrive in the end. However that is no reflection on the book itself.

Beautiful book with lots of detail explains in great detail. I would recommend this book to anyone who even has no knowledge on illumination is a great book with lots of ideas.

Amazing book and content. But the binding was weak so the book was falling apart. But the content was so good I still gave it 5 stars

It's a great book for an introduction to the art of Tehzib, however the print quality of the images could be better. The theoretical content is not as detailed and scholarly as say that of Inci Berol's books. The wealth of images and varied topics cover all aspects of illumination e.g. - borders are included as well and make up for the somewhat less detailed explanation of the symbolism (the geeky stuff I tend to like!) That's the only reason I left a star out but am so pleased that someone has finally brought out a book that explains clearly and concisely the steps towards such brilliant intricate designs.

A beautiful and informative book, with lots of detail and great photography. A definite must have!
