Ral Ω Grad, Vol. 1: Promise

As I write this, I have bought and read volumes 1-3 of Ral Grad. Issue 4 is not released until later so let me tell you what I think of the manga so far.As soon as you look at the first few pages you see that the art is gorgeous. There is a lot of manga out there that have poor effort into them. Ral Grad is NOT one of them. The characters are fun and fresh and the social links with the individuals can be very entertaining. There are parts where I would laugh out loud. The action as in the high speed fight scenes and unexpected twists in fights also make it very worth while for all you meat heads out there. The fighting is clever and can have you on the edge of your seat (reading) at some points. Like the other review said, this book isn't for minors though as there's a, let's say, major "infatuation" the protagonist has with a certain pair of things he finds interesting.So i've been explaining why this manga is so good. The fights, the characters, the social links, the humor....so why has it only got 4 stars? There is one flaw I find personally with this book. This con is the plot.I love the ideas of shadows themselves and how they evolve etc. (read it WHICH I INSIST and you'll understand) so that's all good. However the plot just seems a bit too generic and obvious. Good guys are sent on a journey to stop bad guys from spreading evil and their job is to save the world. Good guys fight bad guys and save a few people along the way. It just seems very basic to me as you see the same type of story over and over again. You have some plots such as death note where there is no good guys and no bad. (I'm not comparing it with death note). It's not that the plot isn't entertaining because I still find it is, it's just nothing original that's all.In conclusion, despite the obvious plot line, you MUST BUY! It's rather cheap and it's worth the read. I'm constantly clawing at my computer screen trying to change the release date of volume four to now...alas no luck. ALL IN ALL! FUN MANGA, WORTH EVERY PENNY, MUST READ, I WANT VOLUME FOUR!

Got this today and it's awesome! mainly bought it because I love the artwork of Death Note, and also the story sounded cool, and it really is! The artwork is awesome and it's also really funny and there's alot more boobs than Death Note heh heh. I think this would appeal to pretty much anyone (although it is 16+ so not really suitable for younger people), but although it seems like more of a guys manga, as a girl i really liked it and would definaly get the next one
