Awesome Device - Awesome Speaker
This is our second Alexa speaker device with the first being one of the original dot models. Going from that to this makes us feel like we skipped a decade in technology. The sound quality is tremendous in comparison. It is extra effective depending on what surface you place this on. Currently we have it on a kitchen counter where I believe the surface paired with the cabinets around, add to the bass. It's got very strong base.I can't say anything bad about this. We use it daily and it compliments are day where we can get music going in a matter of seconds and makes a great cooking companion when you need to set timers to check on foods and what not.

The first thing I noticed was What?
I am a huge fan of this deep black color, I think any color options for the 5th generation would be great but mine is black. No digital clock, wasn’t expecting it with the darker color option but i don’t think i have met anyone who has not agreed with me that the clock will look much better in the darker color echo. More offset and the matching color combination, even maybe a better contrast making the digital clock light red, orange, or purple? I’m just going to hope that Amazon sees this and uses it, and then all i will want is a new digital version with one of my color ideas. Buy this one for the sound and the 5G connection. I’m having a few issues as I am positive most people can relate. The largest and most frustrating is the combination of speaker environments. I can get this 5th generation echo linked to my 4th generation echo as speakers L and R. They are not able to connect with anything else however. Even if they are disconnected and forgotten from their bond they won’t connect with the other speakers. I speak of one speaker specifically and that’s my top of the line Studio. The greatest speaker, surround sound, Dolby, device hub studio speaker. I’m told over and over that it isn’t compatible with the Alexa devices on network tho can connect with the 2 Sony soundbars I linked together before digital plug in to the TV. Though studio is not able to provide sound for this type of connection. It’s made for a simple audio interfaced system. Preferably the devices that share a name with it… at a loss. But if you use it Bluetooth from your iPhone the sound is very impressive. Especially when it’s such a small device. Even when it’s having trouble getting connected I still say it’s worth it. Who knows, maybe my problem is specifically mine and not something that is a known issue, I haven’t been able to find many others that are experiencing this issue.. I can say I am very competent with electronics, connections, networking, and other skills learned taking advantage of the free opportunities available from Microsoft, google, amazon, GitHub, and many others. A lot of free resources are available for everyone and I say that you should take full advantage of them as soon as you finish the purchase of your echo 5th gen

AWESOME!!!
This little speaker is great! From the voice recognition to the sound quality. It is a great addition to any home, and almost a necessity. And the bulb (sold separately now) is super cool with every light shade you can imagine. I highly recommend the ECHO DOT 5th gen. to anyone that wants a smart speaker. ALEXA will tell you stories, tell you jokes, reorder products and among other things tell you the news. It is great. The only thing I wish that it did have is a battery pack or something to make it portable. But I am sure Amazon is working on that. (hint hint. wink wink.)

Works perfect
We all love having our own Alexa devices, there are fun games, we can communicate from room to room, make announcements, my favorite feature is the drop in feature so I can call home and check in without having to have a house phone. Kids love engaging and asking it a million questions to test its knowledge and learn new things. The escape room games are my personal favorite but some of them are really glitchy and don’t work right. But overall I love these Alexa devices and the lights that work with them. The sengeled ones work the best, I have them in half of our rooms now. Also it works with my video ring bell so we don’t miss a guest due to dogs barking lol

Love My Dot, Light Bulb Not So Much
Love this version of the Dot. The sound is better and it looks better than the original hockey puck design. The only problem I've had is that sometimes I have to yell to get it to respond. Have not found a setting to turn up Dot's listening. The Philips Hue light bulb is another story. What a had time I had installing a simple light bulb. The instructions was to load a Philips app and link the light bulb to Alexa. Well, when I went to find the program in the App Store, it wasn't there. Tried some other Philips apps but they were not good. I eventually just gave up and just use Alexa to turn on the lamp that the Philips bulb is in through the smart plug. So, net - net ... I'm using it like a regular light bulb.
