Great locks, but can be opened with a hammer.

Did some research after getting a Tesla Gateway fitted, as it's on the outside of my home, and this will keep the latch locked from casual fiddlers, sized perfectly for that. However the latch is only plastic so I fear that would fail before the lock if somebody was determined to damage it.

I purchased this Master Lock 150 myself primarily for locksport purposes. Overall, I have been very impressed by the quality of the lock for its price. The materials, construction and general feel are excellent for a relatively inexpensive padlock and, from a purely material and construction standpoint, I think it represents very good value for money. Unfortunately, while testing my lock I discovered that I was able to bypass the normal operation of the locking mechanism using a comb pick. On my particular example, this allows the lock to be opened non-destructively in only a few seconds and with relatively little effort. The attached video is a real-time demonstration using the lock I received and is intended simply to illustrate how quickly I was able to perform the bypass. I have deliberately not included instructions or information regarding the specific technique or tooling required to reproduce it. For full transparency, I own and have tested only one example of the Master Lock 150. I can therefore only state definitively that I was able to perform this bypass on the particular lock I received. I cannot establish from my own testing whether every Master Lock 150 is susceptible to the same bypass, whether susceptibility varies between individual locks or production batches, or whether changes have been made to the design over its production history. I am aware that demonstrations of similar bypasses involving this model exist elsewhere online; however, I have not independently tested those locks and do not rely upon them as evidence that every example is affected. I do not condone or encourage the use of this or any other bypass technique on locks or property without the owner's explicit permission. My testing was conducted solely on a lock that I personally purchased and own for the purposes of locksport. The video is included only to demonstrate the potential security consideration described in this review and is not intended as an instructional guide. I also want to emphasise that I am by no means a locksmith or security professional, and this review should not be interpreted as a professional security assessment or recommendation. It represents only my personal experience and opinion based upon testing the particular lock that I purchased. I purchased the lock specifically for locksport and was therefore deliberately testing it for methods of opening other than use of the supplied key. My comments should be understood in that context. I am not suggesting that the lock is poorly constructed overall, nor am I attempting to assess every aspect of its security performance. My review relates specifically to the bypass that I was personally able to demonstrate on the unit I purchased. I have included the video because I believe this is potentially relevant information for prospective buyers of a security product. My intention is not to provide instructions for bypassing the lock, but simply to demonstrate the potential security limitation I encountered so that buyers can take it into consideration when deciding where to use the lock and what they are comfortable securing with it. Overall, I think three stars is a fair rating. In my opinion, this is an impressively well-made padlock for its price, and the quality of its materials and construction exceeded my expectations. I also don't think the vulnerability I encountered necessarily makes the lock unsuitable for every application. However, the ease and speed with which I was able to bypass my particular example is a security concern that I would personally want to know about before purchasing one. For lower-risk applications, I still think the Master Lock 150 offers a lot for its price. For securing particularly valuable property, or anywhere that resistance to non-destructive bypass is an important consideration, I would personally choose a different lock.

Slightly more difficult than the Master Lock 3 due to a smaller keyway and one safety pin, this is a pretty useful lock for people trying to get into lockpicking without too much frustration. I was able to open it in a little less than an hour on my first attempt (after only opening the Master Lock 3 and some cheap transparent "locks"). Would recommend to beginners, probably too easy for anyone more experienced. Also good for locking things you want to be stolen.

I ordered this lock as an upgrade to my 140EURD. Weirdly, a different lock turned up, labeled MAGNUM+, but on the back of the pack it said by master lock, so I didn't think about immediately returning it. I am a busy guy. What is even weirder is the EAN on the package I received is the same as the one on the lock in the photo, so I figured I'll just keep it. The lock in the amazon listing looks like a bigger version of my 140 so I know what I was expecting. I'll hopefully remember to attach some photos of what I did receive. The construction of the lock doesn't look like it is brass, rather someone has painted it to look like it is brass, the brass colour scratches easily to reveal what I believe to be the darker surface of a cast pot-metal body. The cylinder contains 6 pins, which is another reason I thought I might hold on to the lock, as 6 pins is surely more secure than 5, however it is possible to open this lock without even looking at the cylinder. The shackle doesn't have a very snug fit into the body of the lock which means a couple of shims and this lock is open. Props for needing two shims, so double locking mechanism is present, but what is the point if it leaves its self as wide open as it does? Leaving a low star review as I don't know where the link is to say I received the wrong item, and the item i received is rubbish, so hopefully someone investigates it. It is a bit bad getting the wrong item. It is worse knowing the item I received is not worth what I paid, even with any discounts.
