Jazz on a Winter's Night + CD: 11 Christmas classics for jazz piano (Nikki Iles Jazz series)

As a classically trained pianist, i wouldn't know how to put together a jazz piano solo if my life depended on it. I was asked to play for a carol concert in our local church and wanted something Christmassy and not too obvious. This book caught my eye and I'm so glad I got it. The arrangements are just beautiful, I can't stop playing them, the harmonies are so clever. around grade 5 i would say. Can't wait to play for the service and am hoping I dare put the jazzy version of Santa Claus is coming to town in at the end! When I first heard the cd I thought it was ok. Then I started to play along and before I knew it I was properly jazzing up Christmas! A wide range of pieces across jazz styles and abilities. There really is something for everyone here. So much fun to play. Big, big smile on my face. Huge thanks to Nikki for another fantastic set of arrangements. Jazz just became very accessible. Again!

Prompt delivery, attractive cover, excellent CD to play even on its own.Such a useful book to play and especially with such a good CD. I have bought it in time to learn quite a few pieces to play at Christmas with my family.

Pleasant pieces to play and listen to, this lady is a genius and has just got it right. You can achieve that chilled out Christmas jazz effect with the tunes Nikki has put together so expertly.

Love these arrangements, having the cd is great too. Really fun pieces to play and they sound great. The Sans Day Carol & Winter Wonderland are particular favourites, but I actually love all of the songs on here because it really is a great selection.Nikki, please could we have a "Jazz On A Winter's Evening Book 2"?
