When your generator doesn't have a oil filter, you need something to screen out the metal shavings that over time a engine is going to produce. It just makes sense to have something that is going to help screen out those shavings over time.

I purchased two of these type of devices for two different generators. The magnet on this one sticks up about 1/8" beyond the metal and must be pretty brittle. Right or wrong, the two products had opposite polarity, so I stuck them together 2 or 3 times just to test the strength of the magnets. When I separated them, the tips were covered in material. It appears that this magnet is extremely brittle, and the edges got crushed off. If the magnet is so brittle, why not bury it in the aluminum body and cover it with a ferrous tip?

I was skeptical at first, wondering if this would fit my Duramax 8500 Generator, (it wasn't listed) I went ahead and purchased, to my surprise, it fit perfectly! I also have a Generac 5500 Generator, so I decided to see if it would fit that as well, success!! This product fit both of these generators, so I thought I would share, so anyone having one of these Generators, will now know, this plug will work! I would hope they will add these to their list of Generators this Magnetic Dipstick will work with! This is a nice design, color, and has a very strong magnet.
