I piut one of these in the pond last week, I attached a string to it so that I could easily remove it when it needs replacing. It floats on the top of the water at the moment but I understand this may sink a little as time goes by. My pond had clouds of green mist floating throughout and I couldn't see the fish unless they were swimming on top, ie just ayt feeding time. However, at the same time as I placed the pod in I also commenced using the waterfall continuously instead of it switching off at night. In 2 days I was able to see the weed at the bottom of the pool and able to see the fish whilst they were swimming. They still like to hide in the weed and under the pod now but the water is no perfectly clear. I have now had to place a net over as the magpies who have built a nest in the hedge have already taken a frog and one fish but now they seem perfectly safe and it is lovely to be able to see them swimming quickly around the pond and to watch them playing with each other!!! I intend to keep replacing the pods as advised as it seems to be working so well. These arrived quickly with straight forward instructions on how to use.

The barley straw seems ok but one of the bags broke open within an hour of being put in the pond and made a bit of a mess. The koi had tried to nibble it I suspect. Had to put them inside a pair of tights. Probably won’t buy these again.

Absolutely useless.Plastic bag wrapping ripped after being in pond for 2 weeks. Straw everywhere.Completely useless.Don't waste your money on this rubbish. Buy ones with the netting on that last.Will not purchase again.

One works for a small pond (don't know about large ponds), takes a while to clear (3 wks +) but now can see the bottom (was pretty green & murky before!). Best to diary in when to add this/pull up & let float down again & replace to maintain the health of the pond. Pond weed also helps, can remove & wash that first & anything else you have in the pond. Pond filter used quite a bit more than normal to try & get rid of the green also but swear by the straw packs & use each year, late this year so was a real pea soup to start with. Fish happy too!

I can really recommend this for keeping your pond clear of blanket weed. The dreaded slimy stuff started to bloom in the warm weather a few weeks back. Popped one of these in my small pond and it cleared up surprisingly quickly. Nice natural alternative to using chemicals.

Been putting this in my pond but I still had a problem with algae.

This Barley Straw keeps my pond clear and blanket weed free effectively. Initially it takes a while to take effect and establish the right conditions but then continues to work really well. When putting a new bale into the pond I leave the old one in for a week or so to maintain good conditions.

Mon bassin préformé (sans poissons) était recouvert d'algues sur les parois.Elles ont disparu au bout de 3 semaines environ et ne sont pas revenues 3 mois après.je confirme donc que le produit est efficace et bio en plus.Je pense qu'avec quelques poissons le résultat serait identique.

Mes petits bubulles ont eu un hiver difficile, rigoureux, et long, dans le Morvan. Leur eau est devenue toute sale, sans la pompe que l'on retire en octobre. Et voilà qu'un brin de paille fait des merveilles ! Maintenant, je peux les apercevoir, blottis au fond de l'eau, attendant les rayons de soleil. Et je suis sûre qu'ils apprécient de voir le ciel bleu...

Je souhaitais le nettoyage et l'éclaircissement du bassin mais c’est sans compter sur cet effet.
