A clear upgrade from dot puck
I purchased this on a Christmas special to replace an older puck style dot. The sound is vastly improved, as is microphone reception. I moved it to the garage which needed the large area coverage. The holiday promo included a smart bulb, which I haven't used yet. After more than a month of use I strongly suggest going with this model if you're considering adding a dot to your smart home. The improved sound and added features are definitely worth the price difference. It arrived already configured for my Alexa home, a no-cost option you can select at time of purchase. Just uncheck that box if you're planning to make a gift of it. Setup was as simple as going to the Alexa app, telling it which room or group to add it to, and giving it a name. Easy.

Ordered for my mother who has dexterity issues!
My mother is disabled and has a lot of dexterity issues, so turning off her light that is next to her bed at night has become very challenging for her. With this set up, she can ask Alexa to turn off her lights and she never has to lift a finger. It is like the modern-day clapper... clap on, clap off, except she wouldn't be able to clap, so this is even better. she also plays music on it all the time or listens to her books, she can't hold a book or tablet to read so she listens to them on here and it works great. This can be helpful in so many ways, so thankful for technology!

Great!
Love the echo dot 5, it's great that it comes with the smart bulb as well! I wish it was wireless, but it still works great, It responds quickly to my alexa requests. Although the sound quality isn't the best and sometimes it takes a while for it to connect to my spotify. Overall, a great product!

The Best Yet
If your a music audio officiando then spending 10 times the amount of this Alexa will be your best bet. But if you just want a really nice sound with easy integration then get this Alexa version. Voice recognition is really great, and it’s easy to set up groups for lights etc. Absolutely worth the money.

Alexa keeps me company
I love having all these smart things and controlling them with Alexa. I ask Alexa all kinds of questions about everything it's entertaining along with convenient. I don't know what I'd do without Alexa. I recommend if you're unsure you want to go the smart home way. Easy to setup and program.

Setup before it got here was an amazing option, plus the speaker sounds good. The light was even connected to speaker which made even better so i didnt have to go through the trouble with that. I would by more if i didnt purchase other echo products for all the other rooms of my home.
