Laowa Venus Optics 90mm f/2.8 2X Ultra Macro APO for Sony FE

I liked that the lens is small and very smooth focus, but I was very disappointed when the frame start is twitching. I heard a lot of good reviews about this lens, that's why I choose it, but never thought that it will come with defective. I will return back.

The Laowa 90mm Macro lens has delivered exceptional clarity and sharpness, and remarkable precision. Its robust and durable. What truly sets this lens apart is its versatility. Not only does it excel in macro photography, but it also performs admirably for portrait shots, thanks to its flattering focal length and beautiful bokeh. The only downside being that it is entirely manual making it one of my last choices for portrait photography.. The manual focus design provides precise control, enabling me to fine-tune my compositions effortlessly for macrophotography, however.I've been particularly impressed by its minimal distortion and chromatic aberration, true-to-life colors and distortion-free images even at high magnification. Overall, it consistently delivers stunning results. However, the only other downside to this lens is the lack of weather sealing but it is significantly better than it's predecessor with a non removeable front piece to this lens instead of a simple glass front filter that when removed allows the inner parts of the lens to be completely exposed.I highly recommend the Laowa 90mm Macro lens as it has provided me with exceptional image quality and versatility in a macro lens. It's a game-changer for me and a valuable addition to my toolkit. Ultimately, for the price it is an incredibly sharp lens even though I only use it for macrophotography.

Thus is an excellent, sharp, versatile macro lens that I’ve also been using for portraits. Highly recommend this lens.

Used it for macro photography and portrait photography on my Sony a7iii. I felt it didn’t do either well enough. It felt too heavy for macro and loosing AF option for portraits felt like too many Chong a loss with no actual gain.I traded it in for a 60mm x2.5 manual focus, that is lighter, for macro. Will also eventually buy a portrait lens, 90mm or 85mm, with AF for portraits.

Great picture quality for the price - slightly worse than Voigtlander APOL 65mm macro but unless you're comparing side by side you'll be happy with it.Laowa needs to stop skipping on weatherproofing their lenses. Charge an extra $50 per lens for those $1 in gaskets and 3 minutes of machining. Electrical contacts would be nice too but not as important.
