Evans drum heads! What else.
I gave this rating because of the quality of this drum head.It is by far the best that i have ever used in all the years i have been playing the drums. You will notice that i have purchased other Evans products,and i stand by the quality of these products and always when replacing them i replace with Evans products. Anyone who plays percussion will benefit from buying this brand and will satisfied with there performance.

It's coated and surprisingly good
I always used black glossy reso heads for my drum kit, just for the style (vanity I suppose and rock n roll !) I used this one as reso too. It is not a reso head at all and yet it sounds great. I just needed to know it was a coated drumhead and therefore, a matt head. But I like it overall.

This head is a beastly batter head. Having multiple snares to compare against, I am going to give a detailed review. Tuning... This Evans Onyx is durable. It's on a 5×14 PDP Concept Maple snare. I have it pretty high pitched, about a half step lower than my 6.5x13" Pork Pie snare with Ambassador heads. It stretched evenly and has a darker sound. It's very controlled. There are few overtones. I do not have a moon gel on it. It's use is great for heavy stuff or if your looking for a dark, focused yet controlled attack. It would not use it for a jazz gig or a concert gig. The The response from the head is not even close to what an Ambassasdor or Evans G1 or G2 head would be. Doubles need to be stroked out more to get a clean, responsive sound.

Pelle ottima. L'ho usata su un side snare in acero 12x5 ed è fantastica inoltre siccome anche l'occhio vuole la sua parte è anche bella da vedere
