Pump Up Your Maintenance Game: A Mixed Bag of Convenience
The Draper Multi-Purpose Portable Fluid Pump (23242) promises to be a handy tool for various vehicle maintenance tasks. After putting it through its paces, I've found it to be a bit of a mixed bag - useful in some ways, but with a few notable drawbacks.Let's start with the positives 👍. The 10cc spring-loaded push button action pump delivers a decent amount of pressure, making it effective for most fluid transfer tasks. I found it particularly handy for topping up hard-to-reach areas in my car's engine bay. The versatility is a big plus - it handles engine oils, transmission fluids, and brake fluids with equal ease. The metal hose end is a nice touch, adding a bit of durability to a crucial part of the pump. For basic maintenance tasks, it's a time-saver and definitely makes servicing easier 🛠️.Now, for the not-so-great aspects 😕. The most significant issue I encountered was leakage. While pumping oil, I noticed it tends to leak a bit with each pump action. This can make for a messy job and potentially waste some fluid. It's not a deal-breaker, but it does require extra care and cleanup. The build quality is a bit hit-or-miss. Some parts feel sturdy, while others seem a bit flimsy. I'm not entirely confident about its long-term durability, especially with frequent use.The pipe length could be longer for some applications. I found myself wishing for a few extra inches when working on larger vehicles or machinery 🚗.Cleaning the pump after use can be a bit of a chore. If you're switching between different fluids, you'll need to be thorough to avoid contamination. On the capacity front, the 1L container is adequate for most tasks, but you might find yourself refilling for larger jobs.Overall, the Draper Multi-Purpose Portable Fluid Pump is a useful tool for the DIY mechanic or garden machinery enthusiast 🌿. It's not perfect, but it does make many maintenance tasks more manageable. If you can overlook the occasional leak and are willing to put in some effort for cleaning, it could be a valuable addition to your toolkit. Just don't expect professional-grade performance at this price point.

Leaks a little
Pretty good for topping up but wouldn’t recommend prolonged use, bought to top up diff oils on my car, handled 1/2 litre top up quite well however when using it to drain and fill gearbox, after first 1.5 litres had gone in it started a small leak around the top seal.

Do Not Buy If You Want It To Last
I've had 3 of these now and they've all broke. First one arrived broken which should have been my first clue. 2nd broke within a week and the 3 broke after around 8 times used. Pictures are from the 2nd and 3rd ones. All I've used it for was filling gearboxes with oil. They also leak badly around the pump and it covers the outside of the bottle and gets oil everywhere. I would avoid this style of bottle no matter the brand as they'll all be made in the same place/factory in China. I will be trying to get a refund, but I don't hold out much hope.

Impressive pump
So having never had to use a pump to fill a car with oil before (Really Honda!!) I must admit after regaining my lost sense of humour I was pleasantly surprised at how good and easy this pump did the job.I just wish I had googled the job before starting.i can see a million uses for these and they do not pump little bubbles into the stream of liquid (Bonus) so great for reverse bleeding (Honda hydraulics)Very recommended.

Leaks from the plunger. Ebay unbranded quality level.
Used this to replace a 500CC syringe that was being used to fill an MGB GT gearbox.1. It's finnicky to fill with oil.2. The hose provided is short and fairly stiff, I've cable tied it to make sure it doesn't leak .3. The metal u-bend is a bit of a weird choice and likely won't ever be needed or used.4. When you pump almost immediately the plunger brings oil up which leaks and trickles back into the bottle through the breather hole on the lid.5. There's a breather hole on the lid! Don't tip the bottle when it's filled (in case that wasn't obvious) be wary of putting anything near the top that might contaminate whatever you're filling. All in all after one use, the job is quicker and lower effort but... I doubt this will hold out long term a little expensive for the quality.

GREAT FOR AWKWARD ACCESS TO GEARBOX OIL FILLER HOLES
I bought this as a cheap option for aiding refilling my gearbox oil on a van that had terrible access to the filler hole. The hook style nozzle pushed into the hole and stayed put - it did not fall out once nor pull loose despite lots of movement from me pumping the bottle. The flow rate per pump is good and fairly fast but it does take a lot of pumps to get the entire 1litre bottle transferred.Others have complained the pump push rod leaks, and yes there is minor leakage after a few minutes of use but it's really trivial and poses no issue whatsoever. You just need to wipe the bottle neck at the end.All-in-all this made easy work out of a hard job and is well worth the twenty pound price tag.
