Fuss free
It just works,no bells,no whistles..just a peice of brass designed to burn a flame..i just love its design, its functionality, its sturdiness, and its quality..definitely the best €20 ive spent in a long time..been used maybe 5 times,i find a full tank is just perfect to bring a 1 litre teapot to the boil, with the lid on..i estimate it takes about 8/9 minutes to do this( without a wind sheild). .with a wind sheild this process would be quicker and less fuel consumption..i love bushcrafting, and its beyond me how i have never bothered with a trangia stove in all my years hanging out in the forests and woods..love it..👍

Trangia: the benchmark micro spirit burner
This is a good quality item with a couple of features rival models don't have: the variable heat controller, which doubles as a flame snuffer, and the screw-on cap that allows you to leave spirit in the burner.Apparently about 1 in 20 of these burners leak from the main seam when spirit is left in. Mine is OK. You can solder the seam to repair it, if you don't want to return a faulty item. Could be better in the long run, anyway.Runs on meths or bioethanol. Apparently bioethanol can be burned indoors with no flue needed, it doesn't produce carbon monoxide.Bioethanol burns a bit hotter, costs a fraction more in England, is easy to get from B&Q or via Amazon. When using meths, add 5% water to it and this helps prevent any soot. Or just add some of that vile rum someone gave you at Xmas. These burners light up and run at low output for 30 seconds, then they 'bloom' as the unit superheats the air channel in the wall of the device, creating a superheated flame. The burners partner well with the Trangia cooking kits 25, 27, and 28 as you need a pot holder. Also with the Tomshoo wood gasifier mini stove, used as a burner holder / windbreak / pan support.A kit like this is a fine backup on a long-distance voyaging sailboat, in case your cooking propane runs out or there is an electrical problem that hinders electric cooking. The meths or bioethanol fuel are easy and compact to store long term with no problems. These burners are the Swedish army personal cooking solution for use in the field, and work down to -10C with no change; below that you add a widget on the bottom of the burner to pre-heat it. It's probably good to -20C.

Still one of the best ...
Tried and tested, simple technology from the 50s, that still works so well. There are rip off ones on every site, and not much cheaper tbh, but get this original one.You won't notice a huge difference from the rip off or clones, but the one big thing, is the speed it primes. Approx 40 seconds. The clones can take a few mins.Build quality is excellent. Size & weight are about the same as the clones to be fair. The quality of the copper, however, seems thicker and better all round.Seal works, so fuel can be kept inside, whilst on the move. I use bio ethanol, not meths, but either will work.If you're thinking about pots, I use SS & titanium. Ti will boil up so much quicker, so definitely for water use, but tbh, SS is fine for most other things. For the money, it's a great buy.

Best Spirit Stove
There's a reason this is noted as the best spirit stove. It's small, compact and easy to use - I like to vary my camping kit and I use this on my day hikes when I plan to settle down somewhere quiet and don't want the rushing Wooooooossssshhh of my gas stove.I would recommend this for anyone starting out on overnight camping or even just a day hike where you know you'll fancy a nice cuppa and soaking in the view.

Old design still does the job
There are many spirit stoves on the market but this is the best all round burner. Easy to light the stove quickly gets into running mode and will boil a mug full of water in about 4 minutes. The simmer ring is easy to adjust, which is not the case with slightly cheaper competitors. Once the cooking is done simply snuff out the flame, using the simmer ring to avoid melting the 'O' ring gasket. Allow to cool for a couple of mintes then screw the cap down to preserve any unburnt fuel. The seal is good and the stove can be stowed in a pocket without fear of leaks.Recomended for hikers, bikers and anyone who needs a reliable method of boiling water that is small and light to carry.

*Incl. burntests* Great stove - Lightweight, effective and cheap to run.
Very good alcoholstove. Can't really go wrong with this in my opinion. It will hold a fair amount of alcohol. I have forgotten how much, but it's close to what my extra bottle can hold, so roughly 120 ml inside the Trangia. The rubberseal works very well, and you can infact transport the Trangia with alcohol in it. I've done that before, worked fine. Beside that, I just carry another 120 ml. of alcohol in a small bottle. Important NOT to use the lid with the seal to put out the fire, so you don't ruin the rubberseal. Whats also so great about the Trangia is that its small, lightweight and it's really cheap to run, compared to gasstoves.I have done a series of burntests, and the burntime depend alot on the conditions. Tests done without simmerring.Tests were done with 93% Ethanol, denatured. And boiled in a pathfinder cup, ontop of a Lixada folding woodstove. For comparison:30 ml. of alcohol will burn for 8 minutes INSIDE and bring 500 ml. of water up to 95 Celsius30 ml. of alcohol will burn for 7 minutes OUTSIDE and bring 500 ml. of water up to 80 Celsius40 ml. of alcohol will burn for 8 min. 30 sec. OUTSIDE and bring 500 ml. of water up to 95 CelsiusA full Trangia will burn for 25-30 min. OUTSIDE

Best alcohol burner
I'm a bit of a collector of stoves which used alcohol. Prefer these to any gas burner which blocks out the sound of nature. Trangia make stoves which all other burners want to be. Well made, no complaints and doesn't cost the earth. Forget the clones which try to be and spend the extra few pennies for the real thing.
