An essential item for every serious mini painter.
This is an essential ingredient to my style of miniature painting. Is use it often between layers of paint and as a final varnish before metal highlights. The sheen is dead flat, which means any volume you paint shows instead of glare from your paint. It flows great from any airbrush I've tried, from workhorse badger to fine detail brushes. I wouldn't use a different product.

The MOST matte finish I've ever seen after 10 years of painting acrylic on miniatures!
Hands down the best and most matte finish I've ever used on acrylic paint. In the past I've used Vallejo (Mecha Ultimate Matte), Reaper, Army Painter and other name brands. They all leaved either a satin type finish, required 2-3 coats of matte, required thinning, or required a gloss undercoat first. This AK product which I have used with an airbrush and a regular (synthetic and sable) brush, went on with no thinning, dried in under 2 minutes (a pretty thin coat) and gave the most matte finish I've ever seen. For reference, I put this product on mostly GW/P3/Army Painter/Vallejo/Reaper acrylic paint which is either a default matte or satin finish. The finish is strong, survived many people handling the mini, in awe of just how matte the finish is. I would even say, it is so matte, I may buy some satin and mix the 2 together just to have the smallest bit of shine. Don't go anywhere else, AK has the best out of the bottle paint and varnishes I've used for acrylic paint.

Another quality product from AK
AK interactive are go to paints for my scale models. This product is very good when used in combination with AK paint colors that are used in painting faces.

Great for brush-on priming
This stuff is great. Easy to brush on, dries quickly, and leaves behind an essentially unnoticeable matte finish.

High Quality Product.
AK have a great reputation in the plastic model world. This matt varnish works very well when you follow the rules correctly. Matt varnish is for application to a gloss surface only, if the surface is already Matt it can turn white ruining the finish. If you do need to go over a surface again then its advisable to thin the varnish using AK thinner. I use an airbrush in most of my painting and I thin it down a little for a better spray. This product is water based but I only use water for clean up, i always use a thinner to dilute the paints and varnishes.

Thanks for this product
Just got it today. Amazing is the best thing I can say about it. Won’t ever have to worry about frosting again. I’ve always been afraid of ruining my models with other products. Best thing I’ve ever tried.

This and Vallejo are the best for mini's
AK Interactive Ultra Matt Varnish is widely considered a "holy grail" product for finishing Warhammer miniatures because it provides a truly dead-flat finish that is nearly impossible to find with other brands. When you spend hours layering and glazing to get the perfect transition, the last thing you want is a satin or semi-gloss sheen catching the light and ruining the scale effect. This varnish completely kills any unwanted reflections, giving your models a professional, museum-quality appearance that makes colors look deep and saturated. Beyond the aesthetics, it offers a tough protective layer that is essential for gaming pieces that will be handled frequently on the tabletop. It’s incredibly versatile in how it can be applied; it’s thin enough to go through an airbrush straight from the bottle for a perfectly even coat, but it also behaves beautifully when applied with a traditional brush without leaving unsightly streaks or bubbles. Because it dries completely transparent, you don't have to worry about it "frosting" or clouding over your hard work, even in slightly more humid conditions. It’s the perfect final step to unify different paint finishes—like where a wash might have dried a bit shiny—and bring the whole miniature together into one cohesive look.
