As Always-Brilliant
I actually count down the days until these books are released, they’re that good. The characters are so well drawn that they feel like they are a group of people that you know and like. Although there is more than enough tragedy contained in the story to make it a thriller and the descriptions of the scenes are realistic enough that you can almost see them there is always something deeply moving about the way the victims are portrayed and treated by the team of characters- I sometimes have been near to tears at some points in the narrative but I have never, ever finished even one of the books without laughing out loud. JD Kirk’s characters, descriptions and observations about life and all the things that make up a life, the irritation with some of the bastards who exist just to annoy you right through to the idiots who make you question who the hell let them loose in the world are so true to life you not only picture them you are experiencing them. I really can’t praise this author enough,he is my firm favourite in a line of excellent candidates but he takes the(caramel wafer) biscuit. Ten stars.

Perfection!
I'm not going to write about any of the characters or plot - if you want to find out about those, read the book!A few reviewers moaning about the Logan books having too much storyline given over to the characters and how they develop and interact. Well, don't you see? That's what's different about these books! Not only are there always, always nasty bad people in the stories but there are also fabulously funny, quirky characters and how JDK stirs them all together is really his forte. Why should he write the same kind of detective novels as everyone else? Don't get me wrong, there are some extremely well-written and popular detective novels out there for us to enjoy but don't try to change JDK; how he writes is what makes him so popular.Have now downloaded the audible version (as I've done with every other Logan & Hoon book) so I can hear the story all over again but this time with the fabulous narrator Angus King breathing life into each and every one of those characters with his far reaching range of voices!

SUPERB I LOVED IT!
Awe Barry you have excelled yourself with your latest "One For the Ages" It was an absolute master piece which I tried to make last by "trying" to read more slowly because I just did not want it to end. The humour this time was simply hilarious with loads of one liners just pure genius. It was a terrific story and it was a pleasure to be introduced to your new talkative DC who made such a massive impact on the story, a sure hit who will be taking Sinead's place while on maternity leave. Always lovely to have Dave and Bob Hoon back to add to the fun and what an unlikely birthing partner, poor old Tyler. I will never tire reading your books and I'm already counting down the days for book 17. With huge thanks BP Sheffield x

Brilliant - again!
The long-awaited Logan 16 landed in my Kindle at midnight (28th Feb) and I did my best to read it in one go. Unfortunately, sleep overtook me and I had to finish it this morning. It's an excellent story as always, just the right balance of thrills and comedy. There's also a bit of drama - no change there, then - to add to the mix. Logan's team is sent North to Wick to investigate the bloody death of an elderly lady, much loved by everyone in the community. Or was she?? Right under their noses, a second death occurs but are they linked? Suspects are eliminated until the newest member of the team breaks the case. It's a shocker!! Meanwhile, back in Inversnecky things are all about to change for some in the team. Oh, and Hoon pops up - always a delight. If the ubiquitous "alright" could be swapped for "all right," this book would be perfect. 😉

Everyone must read this series
The only problem with this book was that it’s the last of the 16 so far. What a fabulous read. Read all of this series and the 4 Hoon books in about 6 weeks. Can’t get enough of Jack and co. There are times when they are laugh out loud funny and the last one brought a tear to my eye. Who would have thought Tyler could do that? Come on JD get back to it and give us more. Can’t recommend these enough. Absolutely Brilliant. No wonder number 1 on Amazon. Looking forward to read Heather. Only 2 months to go.

That the series just keeps getting better.
What I would like is for Mr Kirk to write 24 hours a day seven days a week so that I can avoid waitng so long for the next book. The problem is that once I start the new book, I have to read it all the way through, thereafter I search every day for the next book.JD Kirk has characters that you just can't help liking and they are so real.Looking forward to the next book, many thanks Mr Kirk for giving us this series.

Foe me, not as enjoyable as all the others.
Having read all of the series so far and the Hoon books too and loving every one, I was waiting for this to come out. I know JD Kirk makes his characters larger than life for comedy value and I usually enjoy this aspect but this time I think the characterization of the older people was a bit off.I'm not in my seventies or eighties for a while yet so it's not me taking offense on behalf of my generation or anything but I feel older people these days are generally being portrayed far too often as bigots and racists and the cause of all the world's problems. I'll probably still buy book 17 though!

Simply brilliant.
At last, my pre order of 'One for the Ages' was delivered. I started reading and, as per usual, didn't stop until the end. This one is up there in my top 5 favourites so far in this series. The humour had me in stitches in many places. I enjoyed meeting a new character who I think has great potential and the return of another character who previously had a smaller part. As for Bob Hoon, well, who would of thought what his input would be! Absolutely wonderful use of him. My only complaint is, these books are just impossible to put down, the story grabs you from the first page and before you know it, the book is finished. This is the sign of an exceptional writer. Hope the wait for book 17 isn't too long in coming. Bravo JD, job well done.
