better known as a rice cooker
I know they call this a multi cooker because it can cook quite a few things, but it is foremost a rice cooker, a modern one at that. The pot is made of heavy gauge metal, probably steel, which is quite common with a lot of modern rice cookers nowadays, I think it helps with better heat distribution. It is non stick coated which works very well at preventing rice sticking to it, so you don't waste a single grain.A little measuring cup comes with the cooker for measuring raw rice in. Level fill the cup with rice, and lightly rince the rice in water, then fill the water up to the 1 marking on the inside of the pot for 1 cup of rice, or fill to 2 for 2 cups etc. It can take up to 4 cups of rice, which is probably enough for 5-8 people depending how much they eat. We are light eaters and 1 cup is enough for 3 of us.Operation it is very simple, just press the menu button until the desire function is high lighted, and press start. The standard mode takes about 40 minutes. I've not tried the quick cook mode, but if it's anything like other rice cookers, it probably takes about 20 minutes. The rice came out perfectly cooked, all the water is absorbed into the rice, keeping all the flavours instact. No need to drain an excess water which would otherwise pour away all the flavours and goodness of the rice.Once the normal cooking is up, it automatically goes into keep warm mode until you turn it off.

So useful and compact
It's a useful little machine if cooking for one or two.. Ive made some lovely stews and pasta sauces. Its also wonderful for cooking rice or grains, and ive given yoghurt and porridge a go successfully. So it's earning its little footprint in my small kitchen. But I wish there was more in the manual. A single recipe for beef stew (I'm vegan) doesnt give any guidance about the likely performance of the single setting slow cooker. And the markings on the inner pot are outrageously out. Which means you have to be quite experienced to use it, as there is a fair bit of guesswork involved. And what is with the 'quick cook' rice function? Again, no information about when to use this versus the regular (slower) rice functions.. which work very well indeed, by the way. It's exasperating and seems lazy. The machine seems well made but the power lead wobbles a bit, and others say that the lid catch breaks easily so I'm being careful with both.I love it... but the makers could have done a lot better with only a little effort.

Lakeland where has your quality control gone....
The actual mini cooker was ok, but as other customers have mentioned the plastic measuring cup came with a great big crack in it, and is unusable. Lakeland would never have sold a product in years gone by with such a poor quality item included.. It has left me feeling that perhaps they are no longer for me after using their shop for the last twenty five years. Quality use to be their top priority.... a very disappointed long term customer....

Healthy meal with a perfect soft crust bread
I bought this multicooker just a few days ago. I was replacing an old one which just stopped working. I couldn't wait to start exploring options and testing the cooking process.I used the "cake" function and "slow cook" and "quinoa" so far with amazing results. Even though this multicooker is more basic compared to my old one the meal tastes better. The quinoa was perfectly cooked. I just made the soft-crust bread which with my old multicooker I was not able to bake the way I like it.It is small and with basic functions but the cooking process is really good.Suitable for one or two people to share a healthy meal.I recommend.
