Big Problems
We like Circuit Scribe, we like their old kits, we liked this idea. However, these Circuit Stickers leave much to be desired. They're about 2/3rds of a good idea that needed more product testing before being sold. As the kit is right now it's kind of useless.1) First off, the big issue is that this kit comes with two battery stickers. Which is nice. However, they're standard CR2032 batteries that won't last long. There is no way to replace the battery on the sticker. As of this review, there is NO option on Amazon or their website to buy more. We called the company and asked about getting more, to which we were told that they planned on having them for sale in the "near future." Once you use up those batteries you're basically left with a $35 notebook with stickers.2) The stickers are a fantastic idea. They're designed to be reused over and over again. But after 2-3 uses the ends were curling up and not sticking down. Thats an issue because those ends are where you connect the sticker to the ink. They were also really difficult to get OFF the paper as well if you didn't have fingernails. It was very awkward and we really needed some kind of tool to help get them off.3) The electrical connection between sticker and ink on paper is literally just applying a ton of conductive ink. More or less an ink waterfall between the top of sticker and the page. This kind of works, but is hit or miss. It's not consistent or intuitive. We had three adults try this out and at best we were hitting 50% on our circuits. It was very frustrating. According to the person we talked to over the phone, this kit is designed for kids ages 8 and up. There is no way an 8 year old could handle this on their own.4) A minor gripe about the notebook. It's a great idea, but only a few pages out of the book have instruction. The rest are blank. The instruction area uses graphics that do not accurately reflect the parts in the kit. Most of the picture diagrams are correct, but a few of the pictured parts look different in size, shape, and layout. We're guessing that whoever designed it used earlier versions of parts and they never updated them to the final version. As adults this wasn't an issue, but it would confuse kids. Especially the 8 year olds they claim can use it.5) Lastly, we tried calling Circuit Scribe several times over a two week period. We kept getting the same receptionist who kept trying to transfer us to the 'head of sales'. That person was never in, and the poor receptionist tried to answer the questions the best she could, but it wasn't much help. We find it hard to believe that there was only a single person at this company who was qualified to answer a few simple questions for us. Especially since we keep getting marketing/ promotion emails from Circuit Scribe about the stickers. We want to like this product, but it needs a lot of work before it can be used at home or in a classroom. If three adult educators ended up frustrated by them, we can only imagine what a classroom full of 8 year olds would look like. Your'e better off getting their older kits as those work far better.

Cool and easy to use
I got this for my niece who is 12. She seems to be having fun with it. The package itself comes with a plastic wrapped book that contains the lights and pens. Mine came with 2 pens. The ink is what is conductive. The inside of the book explains how to use the kit and then has examples inside of what can be done with the pen ink and lights. I think it’s a great way to get kids into the stem field.

Pen doesn't write. Circuit doesn't function.
Conductive ink pen doesn't write, and after a lot of effort to get the ink on paper to connect a circuit, the circuit won't even function. Literally a scam product.

A Wonderful and Fun Way to Learn Basic Circuit Design and Build Great Memories Together!
Yes, this Workbook and Sketchbook teaching about electrical circuit designs is for kids 8+. Well, I’m young at heart and I’m definitely over eight years old, so this must be for people like me! Even so, I justified ordering it because I said, “I’m plan ahead to find things my grandchildren could learn from.” Well, that’s true, but my oldest grandchild is not yet four….I’m glad that I ordered this. It says that there are thirteen pages of lessons (page 12 is blank, so not really), but those twelve pages of lessons take you through basic electrical theory and practice. You get to draw out circuits using the included pen with conductive ink and all sorts of stickers that contain batteries, switches, LEDs and more. Each lesson adds a bit more knowledge and gives you the opportunity to see if you understand it by creating a circuit and seeing if it works. If it doesn’t, you just read the lesson again and figure out what went wrong.I really like how you don’t irrevocably ruin anything if you misdraw a circuit by accident or by miss-intention. All you need is a new sheet of paper, one of the many that are included in the book or one of your own. You get to make lights (of differing colors), use switches (of various kinds) and more. The hands-on approach to learning is really useful. I’ve had this for over a month now, and frankly, I’ve been hesitant to open it up and start using it for fear that I would ruin something. I finally “bit the bullet” and started work on the book today. It’s easy because everything is introduced to you little step by little step.I don’t think my little grandchildren are ready for this just yet, but I certainly am, and I think that any eight-year-olds or older would just love this, especially if you did a little hand-holding, attention-giving along the way. Build some memories as you build some circuits!
