Decent Secateurs - a couple of design flaws
Decent Secateurs, but after using them for a couple of months it has become apparent that there are a couple of design flaws. First thing to say though, is that they are sharp, comfortable in the hands, and at the price it's hard to really complain... ..except for the catchment mechanism. It is pretty poorly designed. I could see that it was a bit flimsy when the tool arrived, but it still managed to keep the tool closed. However after a bit of use, and bearing in mind that this is not a part of the tool that actually gets any actual use other than keep the scissors closed when they are in storage, the catchment no longer works well. It still catches, Only just. Needs a bit of fiddling to make them stay closed and it won't be long before it simply doesn't work at all. It isn't loose, the latch lever is simply made from such soft metal, and there is no real recess for it to lock behind, so it rubs against the catchment, and after opening and closing it a few times the soft metal has worn by the tiniest amount, so it simply slips past. Other than this, the actual latch lever is bent. The tool has not been abused in any way, dropped or otherwise mistreated. I didn't notice it at first, and only saw it after the slipping started because I was trying to see why it wasn't catching properly. The slipping and the "bent" latch are not related. The slippage is due to the fact there is no recess in the catchment for the latch to catch behind, combined with the soft metal. The bent lever is either a manufacturing/design flaw, or a bad part fitted on assembly. See the attached images. It's not a major problem I guess, but it is irritating. Not so much for storage, more so if you want to lock the blades closed and store the secateurs in your pocket while you use your hands. The only other thing I feel is missing, and I suppose this would be more of a "nice to have feature", although on a similar note as the locking issue in terms of where to put the tool when you need to free your hands for a moment, is that it would be great if there was a hole through the handle to allow one to attach a lanyard. This would be useful to dangle the tool from the wrist, as well as for hanging storage. 5* for the blades, -1* for the catch mechanism. I would have given it 3.5* overall for the lack of a lanyard hole, but that would be a bit churlish. Otherwise, yes, nice sharp tool and decent quality for the price. I am enjoying using them, the blades are hard, and have kept their edge well after a good amount of cutting. (I do hone off any little burrs with a diamond file and apply a drop of oil after every use). These secateurs are cheap in terms of the good quality blades, which is what really counts, but they are pretty average in terms of general quality, so it's true, you do get what you pay for. Overall impression, buy them, they are sharp and do the job well.

Great product - well worth the money!
After seeing the press release for this secateur, I had to have it. It was unlike any other I'd seen and had all the key features on one secateur, plus I had a lot of branches to trim thanks to the strong winds recently. Firstly, it's really well made and you get what you pay for. It just feels good and looks fantastic too. It fits so well in your hand and the grips are well made. I love the rotating handle as it's so comfortable and really made pruning far easier. The handle on my old normal one used to dig in to my fingers but this one rotates with when you grip it taking the pressure off. It only took a few minutes to get used to. The finger guard also came in very useful and I didn't get a scratch on my hands. I actually found that it gave me a bit more confidence near rough parts of the branch and no doubt it's great for rose clipping too. The blades are seriously sharp and made light work of cutting the branches even over 1 inch thick. Lastly the locking mechanism is good and kept it closed.

Absolute Quality, Love The Rotating Handle
Thought I’d take a chance on these as I’ve never used secateurs with a rotating handle before but had heard some good things about them. Nothing bad to say really as they are great. Quality is top notch, they’re comfortable, fit nicely in the hand, very sharp, look good and thanks to my new favourite rotating handle didn’t leave me with any blisters or sore fingers like my previous ones. The finger protection guard was nice too and didn’t get in the way at all, in fact it I found that it helped to keep some of the rose thorns out of the way rather than me using my other hand to do so. I tried these on quite thick hedges too and it easily did the job. Locking was a little tight but loosened up nicely after a few times adjusting the cut width (another nice feature). Highly Recommended.

Not worth the money
Not very impressed with these shears. The handle is a good grip but they seem blunt and never cut anything straight across. I use my kitchen scissors instead!! I would not recommend them.

Good Product & Excellent Customer Service
Very pleased with these. Seller kindly sent instructions in advance, no doubt in response to the feedback on here. However, didn't need them. Product very intuitive and easy to use. Quite weighty but cut through old wood with ease. Good heavy duty secateurs. Seller followed up again to check I was happy with purchase which I appreciate. Five stars for customer service!

EFFECTIVE, EFFICIENT, EASY TO USE, WONDERFUL DESIGN
These secateurs are the best, most effective, and useful ones I have bought over the past fifty years of gardening. With aged fingers I usually find secateurs still make demands upon my joints and within a short space of time the blades become less and less effective. However Pro Bypass secateurs seemingly have been designed to overcome any such problems. Easy to use, the movable handle around the fingers enable even the toughest stems and branches to be cut. I have used mine throughout the summer and autumn and they are as effective now as when I purchased them in the spring. This is the second pair I have bought as I tend to forget where I have been working in the garden ... and my husband tries to steal them from me as all the secateurs we have (about four different varieties) aren't as brilliant as this design. Thanks to whoever invented them ... and yes, spare blades would be useful but as the original blades seem to be lasting so well and the cost of a new pair of secateurs is moderate it doesn't matter too much regarding changing blades. Definitely a good Christmas gift for all ardent gardeners!
