It does what it says on the tin.
It does what it says on the tin.I had never heard of this gadget before, so I was going entirely on the reviews. I have bought a couple of things on amazon after reading a range of favourable reviews so I was happy to shell out as I had confidence that it would be correct. I am not a believer that the reviews are only written by the company or competitors. If you get a large enough range of reviews there must be something in it.In any event you don't get reviews if you go into a shop, you take pot luck.I took up serious swimming in February last year. I wanted to learn to do the crawl. I could not do it at all although I was already a good swimmer of the breaststroke. The big problem is breathing or the lack of breath. I found when I first started I would hold my breath which would mean after a length that I was out of breath I then learnt to take breaths but again that is hard work.I was told to do three stokes then a breath then three strokes then a breath to the other side. That is all very good but as a complete novice you are gasping for breath and taking no notice of your technique so it all gets worse and you turn your head to breath after every stoke.I have improved just through application. I got the machine just after Christmas as I was sad enough to order it on Christmas day. I erroneously thought that you blew and that was the resistance and was amazed when I did the suck and that was the resistance.I had to do it on zero as I was so poor. I have turned it up one notch since as I have done it for the last few days.I now have a lot more confidence in my breathing and today I changed from single lengths of the crawl to 3 lengths.I don't know if it is the machine but I now have a lot more confidence and will stick at it until I can do continuous lengths of the crawl.I would recommend this machine as it does what it says on the tin. I will not stop until I can swim a mile of the crawl and still not be panting.Like any exercise you get out of it what you put in.

Excellent Product
The Power Breathe really does work well. I've used it for over a month now and it definitely helps to improve breathing when it's used regularly as recommended. So good my wife has now bought her own!! Not sure there is that much difference between the sports and fitness models, the fitness starts at a slightly lower level and builds up more slowly. It really depends how strong your breathing is before you start. If you run regularly or take part in sports regularly then the sports version is probably the better one to go with but with 10 levels there is plenty of scope for improvement with the fitness version too.

I think it works (if you persist with it)
I am an average 60 yr old women with no diagnosed breathing problems. I do a 5k, cycle a bit and hike, but following 3 chest infections a couple of yrs ago thought this might help me improve my breathing. Even set on “0” this is quite hard to inhale through, however it does get easier, suggesting I’m getting some benefit from it. I find the nose plug unpleasant and prefer to just pinch my nose closed. The device needs to held at a certain angle otherwise it’s almost impossible to use, repeating regular averagely deep breaths work best. Instructions not in English but it’s fairly self explanatory. I think it is overpriced for a few pieces of plastic, but I suppose we pay for the idea.

Good but pricey
I used this whilst Triathlon training and it certainly seems to improve lung capacity and make breathing easier. It’s difficult to know if it improved my overall sporting performance though.Even the low level settings provide a bit of resistance and you can easily find the right level for you. Fortunately this can be cleaned in boiling water to avoid germs being breathed in as well. Although made of plastic it’s sturdy and well made. Mine has lasted for years. The only downside is that it is quite expensive but it seems to be the only product like this that’s out there.

Revelation
I am a keen triathlete and thought that I had managed to train every part of my body that it was possible to train until I discovered this device! After only a couple of weeks of use I am at setting 2 of 10 and finding that quite tough, I can feel the muscles in my respiratory system working whilst I'm using the powerbreathe but, especially when I'm swimming, I notice a difference in my breathing already and will definitely continue to use this device. I'll try to remember to post another review after a couple of months but my first impressions are great - get one now!

Breathless
I chose the red version. As an averagely fit amature I am still close to the bottom of the adjustment scale, so now wonder if the next model down might have been more appropriate. The device is well made and the DVD has a useful instruction section. The rest of the DVD is a bit tedious though. A bit pricey for what it it, but I guess you are paying for the design, which is novel.
