Good bat, seems ideal for players transitioning from beginner to intermediate
I can recommend this for beginners that want to spend a bit more money, or are trying to transition to intermediate. It's a good bat that allows you to do any kind of shot. The bat feels good, the slight curve on the handle is comfortable. I have been using it 1/2 times weekly on average, for a couple of months now and haven't seen any issues with the rubbers. Red/black don't feel particularly different, but that is likely as I'm not a good enough player to feel the difference. All types of shots seem possible, the grip is good for creating and countering spins, and playing top-spin or slices. The case is a nice bonus too. For a next bat it's likely that you already have an established playstyle and it may be worth reading about different rubbers, and then trying some out.

Honest and Unbiased Review
If you look at the one star reviews on every product you'll never buy one. Now here is an honest unbiased review.First of all it is worth buying, whether or not you are a beginner. It is one of the best you can get at the price.Smashing: 9/10 (VERY GOOD)Accuracy: 10/10 (Just like any other good bat)Grip: 9/10 (Will stick to the case at first but case opens fully anyway, it's been months and it's not sticky anymore but the grip is still there and great)Spin: 8/10 (Can spin REALLY well)Comfort: 6/10, great to use but if you sweat in your hands a lot like me then the handle can start to ridge since it is wooden.Around 1mm of padding has peeled off the wood but it does not effect play AT ALL. Seriously, it doesn't. I saw a review which said it's useless now.. some people. I have used my bat 4 times a week for hours at a time for like 3 months and it still looks like the picture on Amazon (handle is a little more grey from sweat).Terrific first bat, it's light and powerful. Terrific 2nd and 3rd bat too, just a great bat, but if i had the money I would upgrade to one which costs around £120-150. I would pay £80 for this bat.

It's my First Bat and I quite like it
This bat was recommended by multiple websites as a good beginner bat, and I haven't had any issues with that analysis so far. Many of the better players in my club have told me that it's a good bat and that the rubbers can generate lots of spin. It's manufactured in a Chinese-British collaboration, making it one of the two lines of table tennis bats on the market that are British. If you want to support local products, but don't want to pay a premium for an Eastfield Bat, then this is probably your best bet.I read some reviews before purchasing that stated the rubbers were very loosely glued on their bats, I haven't had this issue at all. It's also probably worth mentioning that a lot of rubbers are glued loosely onto bats for easy customisation, if you find yours is badly glued, you can buy a bottle of table tennis bat glue for about £10 or you can simply return the bat and order another one.All in all: Good Bat, no problems.

Gives the Edge in a Game
Great for beginners.Have had a tournament in work and I am too competitive so got myself this to give myself the edge and it has sure done that!Really comfortable, great for spin and way better material than your standard bat you would buy at sports direct etc. It’s a smooth and slightly tacky surface that gives you better spin and control on the ball. Great for beginners as it allows you to place your shots while still offering good speed.Highly recommend.

Very impressive bat!
I'm a recreational player and this is my first more serious bat, so I cannot make comparison to other brands. I was afraid of the description: very high control and low speed, but actually this bat is much faster and has lower control than my old 20 USD Stiga bat. So it took some time to get on the same level of play as with the previos bat, but now I getting better and better with it. My loops are fast and have great spin, but I can easily give back the opponent's loops. It has great spin, not too heavy (at least for me), comfortable, so I'm very happy with it!

- This bat is pretty slow (can't loop or smash as quickly as the ...
I don't usually write reviews but what is said here is fairly consistently true so worth adding to.I bought this as a replacement for a Dunlop 7-something which cost around £25 from Sports Direct (these bats get quite a slagging ok the internet but I think that's generally aimed at the £5 - £10 ones).I'm not completely clear on all the bat terminology, but while I found the Dunlop reasonably spinny to hit I found it hard to control fast spin coming at me, even after a couple of months and it took a lot of warming up to get a consistent forehand loop going. My initial reservation about the Palio bats was that the same 'equipment junkie' guy is the voice usually (or solely) shouting about their quality and he has a vested interest in the bat/company.Regardless, the reviews here swayed me so I bought one.I can say that what you read on here mostly and what you see on Google-searched reviews is accurate. By this I mean:- Rubbers are fairly tacky, so can impart reasonable spin.- Bat is neither too heavy or light (but blade feels characteristically cheap for this price range).- This bat is pretty slow (can't loop or smash as quickly as the Dunlop) but control is EXCELLENT. My playing partner puts trememdous spin and pace on his reverse-spin serves and usually gets a lot of free points from me as my blocks fly off the end of the table. But with this bat I have more time on the shot it seems and his advantage here is mostly nullified (tho the loss of pace means more of my attacking shots are coming back)All in all I'm pleased with it, it'll be easier to refine my technique with the increased control though I don't feel it would be good for much more than 6 months for those looking to constantly improve. In that regard, and given my level, I'm wondering if the Master 2 would have been the better buy.

Beginner Paddle
It's a nice basic paddle. The quality is good and it is holding up well so far. It's designed more for control, less for speed. I was hoping the rubbers would have some tackiness but there is very little, almost none. You might be wondering why I gave it a 5-star rating then. That's because it's a good but basic beginner paddle. I was hoping, but not expecting it to be better than it was. I did my research and I got exactly what I ordered. If you are starting out, this is a good choice. It might be a little pricey compared to other options but it consistently shows up on a number of 'best of' lists for beginner paddles. That's why I chose it and I am happy with my purchase.

fantastic control
What a fantastic paddle! I almost hesitate to share this review because I'd rather let my competition keep buying Stigas, LOL. But in the end I feel blessed to have tried this, and would like others to share in that blessing.About me: I'm an OK player, played casually for many years, who can beat maybe 60% of the players at my office. I sometimes got great shots but my consistency has always been terrible, so finally decided to step up and buy a serious bat to compete with. All the serious players at the office have their own bats. After lots of research, I bought this Palio Expert 2 as well as a custom-made setup from colestt (the "buster" combo). I also tried the Stiga Pro Carbon which most of the top players at the office have, as well as some other brands lying around. I wanted to like the colestt racket, but truly I can say this Palio Expert 2 was without question far superior to any other for me -- I actually had a radical breakthrough within 30 minutes of using it!This racket is the heaviest of the lot, which I imagine is perhaps a disadvantage at a certain skill level, but at my level the control and touch this thing offers is completely unmatched by any other racket. And feedback -- I can truly feel what I did wrong in a shot because this thing has fantastic haptic (tactile) feedback. Hence the immediate breakthrough -- within minutes it was obvious to me what I'd been doing wrong for years and years, and guided by this feedback, suddenly everything clicked. My spins worked, my forehand loop worked, everything just worked like a dream. And my opponents hits suddenly became easy to return, because this racket somehow absorbs what they give so that even if my shot form isn't perfect, it still lands beautifully. Maybe that's the advantage of its heft? Not sure why but I LOVE the results. And after this breakthrough, I now play better with other rackets too by consciously applying what I realized from this one to the others, but I still play best and most naturally with this one because of that sensory feedback and the very forgiving heft. It's truly the best I've ever used, by a large margin! I'd say my shot accuracy and consistency has gone from 50% to 90%. The fear is gone -- most shots I know now will probably land. What a feeling that is!I haven't yet played in a big office tournament with the new racket, but so far in casual games I've been getting some lopsided victories. I don't know what is meant by the term "speed" but I gather this racket is not "speedy". But I don't really know what that's about, because I can slam and the ball will go perfectly fast as with any other racket. Anyway, whatever speed is, I've heard that it is the enemy of control, and the control I get with this racket is unparalleled for me, so I'll pick control over speed any day. After all, actually hitting the table is my top goal in any shot.
