I've been a runner and hiker most of my life but my feet are shot. I'm taking drastic measures to correct problems without having surgery or injections. Going to zero down shoes with a wide natural toe is not the drastic part, it's the easy part. I'm also transitioning to bare foot shoes when I'm not at work. This is going to take a while to undo what I've done but so far it seems to be helping. Most people take this journey way too fast so I'm taking people's advice and going slow. These are my first Altras after researching many brands and I like them. Very comfortable. The cushion is good yet not squishy like Hoka, but most of all it's a zero down shoe with plenty of room for my toes to move. Hopefully I can reverse my Morton's Neuroma and abductor digili minimi pain. If your feet hurt then life can be tough. The heel is more snug then I expected (I have very thin feet with no fat) so be warmed. I would have preferred to have gotten the all black but it was $52 more than the black and gray. Couldn't justify it. I did find this color on sale so make sure if you're not picky on what color you need that you look at the different versions. These shoes are not cheap so even $109 in this economy is quite a bit. Eventually I'll be using these for mountain hikes but for a while I'll be using these at work simply as a good pair of shoes. They might look a little funny to some because of the larger toe box but frankly I could care less what people think. At least I can see my feet. Made of good quality materials and even though it doesn't look like it it's quite a light shoe. Definitely worth trying. If these are your first is zero down shoes then take it easy at first. If you're using them to eventually transfer over to barefoot shoes, take it easy, this is not a race. Go up half or a whole size on these. They run small.

Uso calcetas de grosor mediano y este tenis me fastidia y deja adolorida la zona del empeine a pesar de que los cordones esten flojos. Ademas de que estan un poco más pesados que los altra timp 4.

I had a pair of altra lone peak hiking boots back in 2019. I ultimately didn't keep them because the fit was slightly too small and they didn't have the next size up in stock. I just had a hip replacement and decided I really needed some supportive, comfy shoes to recover with. I tried several brands before deciding to try altras again . I ended up having to try and return 3x before I found the right size..I first went with my original size I needed based on what I ordered before , and they ended up being about 3 sizes too big !!! I then ordered based on their size chart and still ended up being much too large . I normally wear a 10-11 in women's. I ended up with a 9 in mens and the toe box still seems excessively wide, however the middle of my foot is so tight and narrow, I have to lace it as loose as possible which seems very odd to me, something I've never encountered before. These shoes do seem soft and supportive but they feel strange and I'm not sure how well they're going to work out once I'm back to walking long distance. The other complaint I have is that the color as depicted online seems black but these are definitely GREY. I'm willing to settle with that but it is a little disappointing. Lastly, I have to say, the quality just seems really cheap, as in, the material feels very flimsy and cheaply made and I have real doubts about how well these will last. They definitely do not seem like the same quality or fit of the Altras I ordered back in 2019. I almost went with Solomon instead, however their shoes were shockingly narrow in fit and also sized very oddly and too large compared to what their size chart claims. I guess shoes now are just really hard to find in general.

Probably my tenth pair of Altras, and each one has been worse quality than the last. I kept coming back for the wide toe box but I will no longer be purchasing Altras. Do yourself a favor and stay away. I had these shipped to a hostel in Maine on my AT through hike and happily chucked my old pair of Olympus 4 in the garbage. They lasted me 500 miles on trail. My new Olympus 5 made it about 10 miles on trail the next day before they started falling apart. The tread was badly separating from the outsole. Pretty clearly a manufacturing defect, but Altra refused to help me since I purchased them through Amazon. DO NOT trust Altras shoes if you are a through hiker! I super glued them back together and they lasted another day before coming apart again. I hope that they will last until I can get to Shaws and pick up another pair of shoes. Looks like I’ll be submitting Katahdin in Topos!

I have such a hard time finding shoes that feel comfortable on my feet, I have no arches and my ankles bend in “hobbit feet” as they say. This is by far the most comfortable shoe I’ve ever worn
