Time will tell.
My chimney has quite a small area. The coal fire isn't used too often therefore decided to block the hole to minimise heat loss up the chimney.I excercised my lungs to inflate, partially before fitting, then fully afterwards. This is on the large side but it does look to have almost fully stopped draughts. It has remained inflated for over 12 hours now. Time will tell as to how long it remains inflated.I have left the clear tube in place, it's obscured by a fireguard anyway.Edit to add a further star and report that after 14 days it has not lost any inflation. However, over time and after some deflating and inflating that valve could well start leaking? Two criticisms, the inflation tube remains "kinked" and requires squeezing in two places to allow inflation. I can't see the filling/emptying valve lasting too long, it's a poor idea too.Wear gloves for a coal fire, otherwise sooty hands will result!I do think, for a small area chimney, a party balloon would be just as effective. To remove - pop with a pin.

Great Value
Works really well to stop the draft. I have found that there is a certain way to put it up to make sure it doesn't fall down within a few days

Do not buy! Very flimsy!
Im sure this is the only review i've ever written on here. This item is incredibly flimsy. It fell apart after less than a week. It is made airtight with a very shoddy valve system that fell apart. I would not buy again. Now I have a loose balloon wedged in my chimney. Very poor quality, not worth the money at all.

Can be fiddly to get to fit properly, depending on the shape/size of your chimney
Relatively easy to use. One of the items came with a manufacturing defect (leaking around a securing point opposite the valve inlet - easy return and refund through amazon) - hence three stars rather than four.

Stopped the draught
I'd give this more stars if I could. It's a bit fiddly to get it in place but once it was, brilliant, no more draught.

Good value, easy to use
This product is simple to use and fit. It will inflate to fill the space. I had a small amount of air leakage around the sides, due to the shape of the chimney, but it reduced the flow of air dramatically. The only slight flaw is that the handle is quite short, making it difficult to install through a small opening (as I didn't want to enlarge the opening I had). With a longer handle, I would have been able to push it higher, passed the obstructions causing the air leakage. I inflated it by mouth, and it was not difficult (just like inflating a couple of large balloons).Overall good product. Will see how it lasts!
