AKG D7 Dynamic Handheld Vocal Microphone

Bought this so I could finally retire my SM58 which I’ve had since the dawn of time! I love my AKG D7. So much more clarity and I don’t feel like I am battling with the mic to be heard above the mix. I have a powerful rock/metal style voice and this mic works perfectly for me. Been using it for over a year for shows ranging from rock and metal to acoustic to even some recording. Great versatile mic.

I purchased the AKG D7 for use with a stage piano. It's immunity to feedback is better than any other microphone I've used. It's amazing. Sound quality is excellent. Like anything, you get what you pay for.

Excellent microphone all round. Sound is very natural and clarity is superb.I was originally looking at the Sure Beta 58A but decided to opt for the AKG which has surpassed all my expectations.

Great quality sound was a sm58 user for many years and think this mic is much better.

EXCEPTIONAL. I was replacing a Shure mic, and they are simply not in the same league.

Nothing much more to say about the AKG D7 Other than I truly hate the mic and it’s going back, thin sound and you have to sing louder than on any mic… thought I’d give AKG a chance but it’s not for me

I have had loads of microphones that I have had since the seventies.The akg dynamics are the best with audio technica a close second.You don't need to use condensers for live singing when you have a D7 at hand.Remember that a Mike is only as good as your equipment will let it be.Quality amps and speakers and everything comparable that's the key.

This mic has a crisp and clear sound. No complaints here. One of my favorite microphones.

Questo microfono é davvero eccezionale. Premetto che ho studiato canto per più di 10 anni. Il mio timbro vocale é quello del tenore di grazia. Sono anche specializzato come ingegnere del suono. Cercavo un microfono dinamico quanto più fedele possibile e con una risposta piatta che non alterasse il suono in ingresso. Molto simile a condensatori studio a risposta non modellata. Questo microfono é esattamente quello che cercavo. Non introduce alterazioni di alcun tipo. Sembra quasi asettico per quanto é fedele. Se uno ha studiato canto e sa usare la voce veramente bene questo é il suo microfono dinamico di riferimento. Se la voce non é un gran che di sfumature e timbrica e per giunta non studiata sicuramente meglio andare su microfoni a risposta fortemente modellata come gli shure beta 58 e SM 58 che aiutano all’infinito e fanno sembrare bravo anche chi non lo é così tanto. Resistenza al feedback incredibile, ma attenzione che la reiezione fuori asse é fortissima, molto più di un Beta58. In definitiva per dare un’idea di come suona, sembra un Neumann KMS105 ma ancora un pelino più flat sulle alte, che ci sono ma sono morbidissime e setose. E di questo te ne accorgi nelle parti cantate acute e di potenza dove non si introducono fastidiose risonanze e alterazioni che fanno fico, ma non sono la realtà. Se la voce c’è, compratelo!!! AGGIORNAMENTO: dopo un po’ di utilizzo live e in registrazioni posso dare qualche indicazione per rendere la sua risposta ancora più naturale. Togliere circa 3 dB intorno a 2kHz e togliere circa 3 dB intorno ai 250 Hz con Q abbastanza stretti perché si tratta di semplici hotspot più che di un vero e proprio comportamento esteso della curva di risposta in frequenza. Sconsiglio fortemente di toccare gli alti e i bassi lasciandoli esattamente inalterati. Per voci femminili forse utile dare 1,5 dB in più sulle basse 80Hz per recuperare l’effetto causato dal filtro passa alto integrato nel microfono. Con questi accorgimenti si può guadagnare un po’ di preamp senza innescare feedback. Il risultato sarà eccezionale!
