I bought these to make homemade vanilla to gift at Christmas time. I made them in August so that they would have time to soak in. They smelled great and seemed to be good quality. For those interested in the ratio, I used 30 of these beans (split down the middle and cut in half for maximum surface area) with approximately 30 ounces of 80-proof spirits. After just a short time, the liquid is already turning a deep amber color, proving that the beans are full of rich vanilla oils and are already making a truly fine product.
