For the price, absolutely brilliant
At home I use an external monitor, keyboard and also plug in ethernet as well as various peripheral devices and was fed up of attaching a multitude of cables so decided to look for a docking station. Not wanting to spend much having just purchased a mbp (2010 model), an external monitor and set up a media network, henge dock seemed the only feasible product. My only advanced reservation was whether I would have any problems getting the cable ends to insert into their ports. Thankfully the dock is well designed and the cables are securely fixed in place meaning I have to apply very little pressure to dock my mac. This is an important consideration with docking as I have had experience of ports being damaged by a poor docking unit. I do not forsee any such problems here. The henge dock is a little fiddly to set up but is a very slick and robust piece of kit and makes my office look less cluttered. After just a few weeks of usage I would be lost without it. I strongly recommend it.Warning: Cables are permamently attached. The package includes 2 usd cables, a cat6 ethernet port and an audio jack but you will have to purchase an Apple mini display port adaptor (not the generic ones as these do not fit) as well as a spare power cable (the old shape one - these are available on Amazon). Although I could knock 1/2 a star off the rating for the dock not being able to use the new mag-safe power cable I will not as I am overwise very very impressed.Oh forgot to mention, the packaging is up to the Apple standard which is always a joy.

A nice concept, but could use some improvement
The thing is it is a plastic support for a MacBook.Good quality plastic and esthetically pleasing, but still a plastic support. The ports available on the left side of the MacBook are "replicated" through cables that are left dangling behind the support. The cables come with the support, but they leave the user to choose which ones to use and to assemble a "customized" dock that fits his needs. No problem with that, but why not go all the way and provide a dock with all the cables already mounted and with the equivalent ports available in the dock itself? Sure, it would cost a bit more to have the DisplayPort adapter embedded in the dock, but anyway I had to pay for a new MacBook power supply because the dock requires that a screw one into it. I need to carry a power supply with me when I travel and it's a nuisance to have to unscrew it every time.I surely would pay a bit more to have the DisplayPort and MagSafe connectors available in the dock, and it would be pretty useful to include a USB hub in it as well, even if not all ports were energized.Another point, and this one a serious issue: the MacBook Pro blows hot air through openings on the back close to the display. When the kid is closed, the openings are hidden and closed. So, don't go doing any high processing on your Mac while in the dock, cause it might overheat. I still believe that my battery was damaged because of excessive heat while playing WoW with the MacBook in the dock.

Best solution presently out there
There a very few solutions to dock your MacBook available right now, short of an Apple Cinema Display if you have Thunderbolt. This is about the best I've tried. The quality of the product is just fine. Well finished plastic, with a snug fit that will hold the MacBook securely. You also get all the cables and adaptors you need to hook up any of the ports neatly and tidily. The one flaw with the system is that each cable needs fitting separately and carefully. It's best to fit each cable one by one and test that the MacBook still slips into the dock easily and connects without a problem. This can be a little fiddly and if anything moves once you have set it up, it's not easy to work out what might need an adjustment.Once set up, though, it's a clean, tidy, neat solution. It looks pretty good and the all-white cables that come with the dock mean you have neither a cable mess, nor a coloured mess. Until a good Thunderbolt port arrives, this is easily the best solution there is.

Better than expected
I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews for this. Yes it's a plastic stand, which is clear before purchase. And yes, the connectors are secured manually, but this allows the price to be kept low and unused connectors to be left out, reducing port wear and friction when docking/undocking. Regarding the miniDP connector, certain cables/converters will fit, while others won't - this should be obvious, and considering many people will be using an existing Apple converter I can understand why an extension hasn't been included (the cable which came with my Dell monitor was a perfect fit, if that's any help to anyone).Things I like about the Henge Dock:- Reducing the footprint of my laptop when at my desk- Docking/undocking in 5 seconds instead of 1 minute- Less cable clutter- 30 minute setup, and it worked perfectly first timeThe only thing I would change it the colour - black matt plastic would have been more in keeping with my desk. Not enough of an issue to lose a star though.

Very nice design
A very neat and effective design with a full set of in-place connections including power.Although it's a little time consuming to set-up (the Henge Dock is designed to work with a number of Macbook models) once the connectors are all fitted in the right place you have a very simple and easy to use docking station that has real style. As with all Macbook docking stations that I've seen, you have to power the Macbook on then close it and insert into the docking station - slightly strange if you're used to PC docking stations - but it works and fits the bill in every way.Excellent addition to my Macbook!

Fitting
I ordered the dock and had my own VGA lead which did not line up properly after reading some reviews i went out to purchase a original lead from Apple this still needed a little piece of tape along one side to pack it out to in able my mack book pro to dock up square into the plug. All is well now and it seems to work really well , It seems to leave slight white marks on the Mac book on removal from the dock
