I love this book! It's a great guide to hand-lettering in general and Dean definitely encourages you to create your own hand lettering alphabets (fonts), rather than to give them all to you. That said, there are three sets that are all lowercase (no numbers). She teaches readers about the different pens/markers/papers, pressures, and strokes, so there's plenty of info to figure out how to make your own sets if you're so inclined.There are also guides for simple drawings of woodland animals and plants and a whole bunch of suggestions for making art for/with the outdoors or to give something an outdoorsy essence.I love this book and have used it a bunch.One thing though, why don't lettering books all come spiral bound?! It's so much easier to use when you can keep it open to the page you need. It'd be lovely if they make this an option at least! :)

This book! Peggy Dean has hit it out of the park again with another amazingly fun, instructional guide to lettering and drawing! She is a master at being able to break down the process so that even the least naturally talented person 🙋‍♀️ can successfully sit down and produce something pretty right off the bat! These new, nature inspired tutorials are just so cute and fun, anyone would want to give them a try! And the quality of the book has risen to a new level with smooth paper that won’t fray your expensive brush pens. I would recommend this book (and do!) to anyone who wants to learn to hand letter and draw. Peggy will have you up and running in no time! And for those who just want to up their game, this is the book for you!

It wasn't my thing, so I gave to a friend. Her nine year old child sat down with a pencil and immediately began drawing foxes and such. Wow, so impressed. I do love her botanical line drawing book, highly recommended!

Excellent well-written book. I have watched many videos by the author and taken classes by her on "Skillshare." She is a talented artist and a fabulous teacher, who is funny and very good at getting her point across to her students. This book is easy to follow for the beginning hand-letterer and artist and she makes it so simple to follow her steps. You can easily make beautiful hand lettering by following her easy instructions and do simple artistic creations that are great ideas for gifts in this book. It's a must have for all beginners and a good reference for others to have in their collections. Well done, Peggy.

I’m a florist and I like to make my own little cards to add to my bouquets. Peggy’s book makes it so easy to make a quick sketch and write a note with some nice hand lettering. I love it!!

Peggy Dean makes calligraphy and drawing so accessible. I have all her books she has published. I love the theme of this book and that it gives some instruction over some broad topics. So inspiring and I can’t wait to get her next book too!
