500g Craftmill Stonecast Casting Plaster of Paris - Extra Tough/Strong

I bought an antique Vienna wall clock with a missing small intricate wooden carving and I thought how am I going to reproduce it? Enter Stonecast casting plaster: I made a mould with one of those silicone moulding kits meant for fancy cake decorations, poured a little mixed casting plaster into the mould and voila!After I'd trimmed away any excess, the casting was a perfect replica - smooth detailed finish and no trapped air bubbles. The cast took several layers of liquid wood dye to match the colour and to give an aged look. I've asked folk to tell me which is the original and which is the casting but to date no-one has been able to. Good stuff!

What more can I say, made a mould of my sons hand using alginate powder from the same company, finished the job by using plaster of paris to make the cast. Easy to use and quick. Finished product fantastic. However, instructions for use could be better. Fortunately I got some good tips by watching videos online. Use distilled water if you live in a hard water area. Use cold water as it gives you plenty of time to mix the product thoroughly. Once you have poured the mixture into the mould tap in repeatedly to eradicate small air bubbles.
