I have a few vintage film cameras that I enjoy shooting with, but the only flash I had that connects with a cable is fairly large and often more powerful than I need it to be. This hot shoe adapter lets me use a modern, tiny, USB-rechargeable flash with a camera like, for example, an Olympus Pen S, which has a "PC sync port" and only a "cold" shoe. I bought the "cold shoe foot on bottom" version of this; I believe the hot-shoe-on-bottom version wouldn't work for my use case, because most cold shoes (inadvertently) connect the two hot shoe contacts—so the flash would trigger as soon as you mount it, and would not trigger again when the shutter is released.

Works perfectly using the flash sync terminal. There just aren't very many options for older flash sync cords anymore, and this gives a good amount of flexibility. You can trigger the flash using either a PC sync cord or the 3.5mm miniature phono connectors. Small and robust.

Triggers the flash via a 3.5 mm input plug. I use Pocket Wizards and Canon Speedlights. It’s made of plastic, so be gentle.

Specifically bought this adapter because it has the accessory bracket tensioner that some adapters do not. Some accessories have thinner inserts that do not fit snugly into most adapters. The tensioners are handy for that reason. The tensioner is seen on the upper-side bracket of the provided photo.

I'm able to do off camera flash.

It works, is sturdy and inexpensive. What more could you want.
