Robust, good eq settings, sensible design but sadly too noisy
This was paired with a yamaha trbx 304 active bass so should have been good match. Used as a headphone amp. It has a pad switch found in the battery compartment. I was surprised, given it is an active bass, to not need the 15db pad. With it I couldn't get enough gain, and without the pad, I found the bass distorted at high (but not excessively loud) volumes. I'm not a heavy metal enthusiast, and still have good hearing. It also has some hiss which is not present on a different headphone amp (fender mustang micro). This is just about heard at the point of a "comfortable volume". Lastly the scrambler circuit isn't to my taste. The eq adjust works well, including the ultra lo and ultra hi switches which I like. Shame I love the idea of this as a DI box with a few extra features, but there is too much noise.

Disappointing
Very disappointed with this pedal. After using the Sansamp Bass Driver and Sansamp VT di pedals for a long time I thought I’d try the Ampeg, sadly is noisy and doesn’t bring much character to your bass sound. Save up a get yourself a Darkglass or Sansamp.
