Crafting the Resistance: 35 Projects for Craftivists, Protestors, and Women Who Persist

As a fan of her other book,  Sock Architecture , I confidently ordered this newest title from Lara Neel, and am pleasantly surprised to find it shares even more than I anticipated. I expected just knitting patterns, but it also includes projects across the spectrum of arts and crafts! The instructions are easy to follow and yet adaptable enough to inspire a world of individual expressions in both aesthetics and messages.

This book says it is for sewing, knitting AND CRAFTING - it's really just sewing and knitting. I don't do either, so I can't use this book.I also thought it was ways to for an introvert to get involved in activism, but the projects mostly were for the home or to wear/carry at protests. It also only covered feminism (though I suppose you could take the patterns and revise them to a different message) Nothing in here seemed remotely original or inspiring to me.

So much resistance fun! What's not to love? Great gifts to make for others or make wonderful fun feminist things for yourself.

Not much of a craft person but well written, witty and a good read

Not as useful as I had hoped. Specific projects, not open ended ideas.

I was given a copy of this book and I enjoyed it so much - even though I don't knit! Many chapters starts out with a short personal story or mini history that pertains to the specific project. Being a wannabe crafter, I especially enjoyed the introduction on all the various tools I might need for the different types of sewing and knitting projects and what should be in my basic kit vs those specialty tools that help make things just a bit easier. Each project is broken down into the materials and skill needed, lots of helpful tips and then step by step instructions with lots of pictures so you can easily see the project coming together. A great gift for anyone!

This is a wonderful book that shows you how to use your creativity to let your voice be heard. Love the idea of using design and color with handmade objects to send a message. Perfect example of taking a non-violent stand!

A must have for anyone who has had enough of the current political environment. This book has something for almost anyone, unfortunately there are no crochet designs in the book....the only downside to it. I strongly suggest that you check it out!
