Well written book
A couple of my coworkers are following this diet so I decided to see what it’s about. The book is very informative and within the first 9 pages, explains the diet and lifestyle changes to expect. Then, there’s 106 pages of recipes followed by a conversion chart. It’s very straightforward and well written.

"For Beginners" is misleading
The spice mixes and recipes are good, we haven't had a "bad" meal. However, this book is not for people who have little cooking experience, may not have a fully equipped kitchen or actually work a full time job.The meal plan in the front includes meals that require a lot of prep starting with just where to find them in the book. The table of context/index is not laid out with a consistent order (alphabetical or categorical) so just locating the meals on the meal plan is a time consuming chore. Often lunches require hours of slow cooking which simply is not practical for someone with children and a job. The portions (aka how many the meal feeds) are inconsistent and haphazard ranging from "feeds 3" which yielded enough for our family of 5 plus leftovers to "feeds 4" and there was not enough food for 3.We are a "normal" American family so having to have a juicer or a food processor should be something that is very clearly in the introduction or forward that can be previewed before purchase as we do not have either of these things. Oftentimes, the spices required are excessive, one meal required 11 spices and many of them are not commonly already found in a spice rack. Ingredients are not what one would consider "for beginners" when it's things like parsnips, dried peppers of various types (that I would typically have to find at a specialty store or order online) and various obscure vegetables. It's not that we don't appreciate variety, but when you're making every meal from scratch for 30 days, spending hours hunting down ingredients is exhausting.Cook time and Prep times are very "off" on many recipes. If you are a beginner, for example, chopping 2 types of peppers, finely chopping carrots, onions and garlic, and preparing a marinade for the pork to rest in for 6 hours is not "15 minutes prep." Cook times if followed to the letter often leave meat overcooked and veggies undercooked.I gave it 2 stars because we pushed through and the food was good. We did not encounter any non Whole 30 recipes as some reviews have stated, but we also did not veer from the premade meal plan provided, so I cannot confirm that there aren't any in there. The book isn't put together well, the forward from the author is off putting and judgmental, and it's just not a practical option for anyone that does anything other than stay in their home and meal prep.

Not Whole 30
I had been looking for an addition to my Whole 30 Collection. The cover is deceptive as it looks like part of the Whole 30. That being said, I was willing to peruse it and give it a chance. Nope, poor quality pages and no pictures. A couple pages look like they were caught in the printer. I returned and will look for one that aligns with my expectations.

Informative book
I like the fact that the initial part of the book explained the premise of the program and its reasons to consider getting involved with it.. It is not a diet so one should not expect it to be one. Nice variety of recipes provided. Great product and well worth the money paid for it.
