Nova: Resurrection (Nova (2016-2017))

This is a Nova Generations Special or a Nova Legacy title before they flood every Marvel title.This is Rich Rider the Requiem.This is – despite what I have read from other reviewers – a satisfying revisit to the fate of the Original (and best?) Nova – Richard Rider and an interesting resolution to the hanging storyline and questions left unanswered for so long.Oh, and the new Nova kid’s in it and I suppose he’s alright if you like cutesy pre-teens with ridiculously snappy banter and bad hair.The series was cut short after this relaunch of a recent new series with the young-Nova making this adventure a done-in-one-trade.Honestly – this is like a footnote to the Nova of the Annihilation Wave – to -Cancerverse – era and I highly recommend it.The art is modern and jarring but – again despite other reviews – the characterisation seems spot on – this is MY NOVA!But is it yours..?

This is a great book. I went ahead and pre-ordered it since there are only three issues up on Marvel Unlimited and I'm absolutely gutted to know that they canceled it. Fun story about Sam and Rich that got a pretty darn good ending, especially considering that I'm sure they wanted to take the whole thing a lot further than this.

I'm not a fan of a continuous comic book story that does not seems to have an ending. But this book is just nice for me. Simple and a straight forward. And the most important of all, I just love the drawings.

This book struggles to find its tone and it's audience. The writer for Sam has flipped quite a few times and the characteristics of his family physically and emotionally are constantly shifting. It's a fun short read, however, it's disappointing because it doesn't live up to the work and writing gone into the previous nova Richard Rider. Great book for kids as is the entire Sam Alexander series.

Terrible art, and no understanding of the original Nova character. You can see why this volume only lasted 7 issues. Sam Alexander is bad enough, but this new run was an all time low for my favorite Marvel hero. Time to kill off Sam for five years while they re-stablish the original Nova for the next, oh, five years or so. And bring in a writer that is actually familiar with the history of the character. That would help.
