Ruler and Compass: Practical Geometric Constructions

A truly excellent piece of work that filled so many gaps in my knowledge. Such a handy size to cart about and dip into as well. I use if for reference constantly at the moment as i'm doing some work that demands the use of a ruler and compass. Bought 'Quadrivium' too which comes from the same stable.

What a delightful find. The author does an amazing job, using a shorthand, to demonstrate the steps to be taken in an actual construction of a particular shape. I find it fascinating to make the constructions in my head rather than borrowing a ruler and pencil.I'm much too lazy to do that.

Good fun and contains some handy tricks for the serious carpenter.

Got this just to see what could be done with compasses. warm memories of school days and new stuff too. Good illustrations, text not impenetrable, if you like geometry and constructing stuff, have a look at this.

Nice little book to start with for me, a novice, my compass and ruler await 😁 I'm looking forward to digging in

I bought this for my husband to practice his ruler and compass skills to make deco. He hasn't put the book down for a week.

Woodenbooks have published a number of books with great content in an awful format. The books are too small to read even with my glasses on, it's almost impossible to see the details of the beautiful drawings and pictures/illustrations - great shame. The books' format completely destroy the joy of reading them. I even bought the kindle version of these books hoping that I can read them better on the screens but that too was a mistake - promptly returned them for a refund.

I was sceptical that such a modest volume could live up to the claims made for it but it does and more. There are so many constructions in this book that I will never need to look elsewhere.

The book is smaller than it looks in the Pictures at Amazon, but it's a nice book for geometry lovers. It contains quick references to practical geometric constructions.

Comme d'habitude, les Wooden Books sont au top ! Excellent livre qui permet de s'entraîner à dessiner seulement au compas et à l'échelle non graduée. Les explications sont succinctes mais très compréhensibles.

The booklet is very instructive indeed . I only wish it had a more readable size / format , like a workbook . The prize matches the edition ,so no problem with that .

It is quite small, and I was worried by the size. Fortunately they’ve managed to pack a remarkable amount of information in such a small package, the diagrams and instructions are very clear and explained in the introduction. I’ve been finding how concise it is to actually be a significant plus. You are able to find what you want quite quickly. It’s become my favourite book on geometry.

nulla a che vedere con la massoneria (come si potrebbe sospettare) ma un libro fondamentale per chi rimpianga il disegno con riga e compasso e la perfezione formale a cui questa tecnica di disegno aibitua e prepara. Forse cercando in qualche scaffale di matematica dell'800 si trova qualcosa di simile ma a dispetto delle dimensioni contenute il ibro è una esposizione esauriente di questa tecnica
