As an artist setting-up a studio, I found this book absolutely essential reading. It should be in the hands of every artist starting out in this business.The book is slim but packed with information. In chapter after chapter, it imparts solid advice on the many directions that an artist's career path may take. It covers everything, from pitching artwork to every kind of business, to every avenue by which an artist may make money from their art, and from financing your business to dealing with bad payers. Its legal, contract and copyright advice is certainly not to be missed.Unlike many books, this one is up-to-date (as of 2016). It covers networking, running a website, blogging, and so on. It covers online CVs and just about every publicity outlet. It does not dig deep into the technicalities of, for example, exactly how to link your website to your Facebook page, but it does alert you to the possibilities.If you are a freelance professional artist, buy yourself a copy of this book. For me it made the process of shifting from neoclassical art student to professional portrait artist much easier.

It is vital that every art college, studio complex and creative business support centre should buy at least several copies of this book.

This book is ok, it has some useful information but to be honest you can source this info yourself online if you can be bothered.

Although I am very knowledgeable about Internet marketing. This book clarified the terms of for me of a Gallery deal..Worth it just for that. But for those starting out and want to know how to market..Buy it.

Bought it as a gift and the person who received it is delighted. It gives him much needed knowledge and advice.

Well written with a very comprehensive overview of marketplace for artists with good examples including letter templates for approaching galleries.
