Eve Outdoor Cam (White Edition) – secure floodlight camera, security & privacy (HomeKit Secure Video), 1080p, night vision, Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz), motion sensor, two-way communication, flexible installation

This is an amazing but of kit! Great outdoor light, and good footage. It’s the easiest HomeKit camera I have ever set up! And the eve app is great for changing some camera settings! Eve do more cameras.the install is weird it’s not hard but as the Germans would say it makes sense and is brits don’t like things that are not as easy as they could be!

Bought two of these external cameras, easy to install and picture quality and storage etc are excellent. Easy to set up, the only issue I had was cameras going offline at exactly the same time early hours every morning. Spoke to Eve via their online forum. I received a prompt reply suggesting it could be a Wi-Fi issue. My internet provider assisted me by resetting the broadband shield and that resolved matters. I can’t recommend these cameras enough for quality, ease to install and operate, Apple storage etc. Certainly 5 out of 5 from me.

Update: reduced to one star - after heavy rain has let in water - see picture.I bought this having high hopes that it would be better than my existing Netatmo Presence camera. Unfortunately, so far I am very unimpressed. It is really horrible to install with a convoluted process that would be difficult enough without taking into account the likely location needing a ladder to access. WiFi strength is the real let-down though - despite checking the location with my iPhone as instructed, the camera just does not function well, with frequent disconnects and glitchy playback AND recordings using HomeKit secure video. The floodlight seems OK, with a colder temperature than the Netatmo, and perhaps less powerful. The motion detection has already missed things that the Netatmo managed to pick up from much further away. I have to say, that although far from perfect, I much prefer my old Netatmo camera, that despite having an even weaker WiFi connection still manages to record smooth video to Apple's servers, and is generally more sensitive and fluid in operation. I'm going to try to improve the WiFi signal by moving my mesh WiFi nodes, but if there's not a significant improvement, I'm sending this back and replacing with another Netatmo camera. Maybe the complete reliance on HomeKit is actually a negative for this Eve camera - at least the Netatmo can also record internally and be accessed independently of HomeKit - and it's still pretty secure in the grand scheme of things. Bear in mind this is a brand-new product though, so perhaps some aspects will improve with firmware updates.

Does the job, but the light not very bright

Works great and has been reliable for the past 2 months. No interruptions with a router 40 feet away (2.4Ghz). The floodlight is bright and has a boost function as well. Very stable, go for it.

The software in this camera and on the phone is better than in Netatmo I had before (which sadly died). Installation was easy (unlike Netatmo which I had to repeat several times before it succeeded).However, image quality on Eve is pretty much unusable at night (with or without floodlight). I cannot recognize even my face when standing right next to it at night. They both should have 1080p sensors but there is just no competition. Eve has a wider angle, but the recording is so way more compressed, blocky. I swear PAL VHS cassettes in 90's had better image. No chance to read the car registration or any details. The wider angle might work better in some setups, but corners are way too distorted and combined with poor lens and sensor.Two way audio is nice, but unlike Netatmo there is no siren.I'd love to keep this, but the I find the image quality unusable. Especially since I know that 1080p in Netatmo is so much better.I had to return this, order another Netatmo and live with quirks...

I really like this camera, it is installed in the garden and has a good wide angle view. The only problem has to be the installation, it can be difficult. I am considering getting an additional camera if the price drops.

OK, so the plus points - it's well made, built like a tank and the installation was a breeze (although I completely assembled the mount before offering it up to the wall plate).So why only 2 stars?Well, the whole point of a CCTV camera is that the footage it captures is at least usable. Eve Outdoor Camera? Nope. Supposed to be 1080p but looked more like over-compressed 360p instead and utterly useless. Object detection also was a bit iffy.I know it's HomeKit only but I already own a Logitech Circle View HomeKit camera and that is flawless (even if it is only 1080p) and I kinda expected it to be a standard.Anyway, this Eve Outdoor Camera is now on it's way back to Amazon... thank goodness for their cast-iron returns policy!

Die Kamera ist seit Anfang Januar im Einsatz mit Apple Home und verrichtet zuverlässig ihre Aufgaben bei Tag und in der Nacht. Die Qualität der Nachtaufnahmen ist ist gut und die Kamera reagiert bei entsprechender Einstellung auch auf durchlaufende Katzen.Die Installation war mit Hilfe der Beschreibung (und vorsichtshalber unter Zuhilfenahme eines Videos aus dem Netz) völlig problemlos.Bin mit der Entscheidung für die eve outdoor cam bislang sehr zufrieden und gehe davon aus dass dies so bleibt.

Works as expected. Solid connection, nice integration with HomeKit. Device is very well built, too.

J'ai acheté cette caméra, afin de pouvoir surveiller mon extérieur et bénéficier d'une lampe en cas de détection de présence. L'installation est relativement facile et très bien expliquée .Mon seul regret, même si je le savais depuis le départ, c'est la qualité d'image qui reste des fois moyenne. Il faut également faire attention au niveau du wi-fi car même si votre téléphone indique un très bon signal lors d’un test, la caméra perd assez souvent le signal. À compléter avec un répéteur.

Visto il prezzo della telecamera dovevano migliorare la ricezione del Wi-Fi. Avevo fatto la prova con il mio iPhone come nelle descrizioni del prodotto ma non è servito a nulla, ho dovuto comprare un ripetitore perché il segnale della telecamera era scarso.Per il resto non si può dire nulla al prodotto, fa quello che dice e Apple home kit funziona perfettamente.
