Puppetry 101: Creating Film and Television Style Puppetry

Brilliantly written, fun and easy to read with a ton of information, inspiration and help. Definitely a must for anyone interested in puppetry and puppets.

I am very new to puppetry despite being a fan my whole life and the amount of information that Adam Kreutinger has made accessible to beginners is truly incredible, from his YouTube channel to this wonderful book. The book itself is small BUT it is crammed full of information that is delivered in a very easy to understand language and format. I read it all in one sitting but I know I will come back to it time and again as a reference book. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to perform with puppets or just to know more about how the puppets we all know and love are performed too.

I really enjoyed reading this book as it’s full of helpful and practical advice for puppeteers. I found the book to be really motivational and took a lot from it. It’s a great starting point for people wanting to get into puppetry but also contains lots of advanced tips for pro puppeteers too. I highly recommend it!

This book is a fantastic "How To" guide for those interested in learning puppetry for film and TV specifically. He explains the principles behind the performance clearly, succinctly and without unnecessary technical jargon. The layout is clean and crisp with effective illustrations. It is clear form his explanations that Kreutinger is an educator and believes in making the complex easy to understand, which is a real skill. I have been reading in eager anticipation of putting the principles into practice. It is the perfect companion to his series of YouTube videos.

It is rare to find a book that is useful to both the beginner and the professional.Mr. Kreutinger has succeeded in creating such a book.From idea to show, he explains everything from writing the script to how to take that and perform on camera.The camera work is well written and is useful to those starting out and a refresher course for those who have been doing this for a while.His ‘how to write a script’ gives one for everything from puppet plays to screenplays to an outline of a book.I would highly recommend this book if you want to learn how to make puppets come alive and then share that with the world

excellent book, clear, concise... and above all : very inspiring!A very good complement to Adam's Website (where you will find nice patterns for free) which provides very good advice for your productions and which makes you want to get into puppetry (or get back to it!).
