Indispensable guidebook for Switzerland travel
I’m traveling in Switzerland right now using this guidebook. It is an indispensable tool for maximizing your tourist dollars and time in Switzerland. I love Rick’s walking tours and they have proven to be the best way to get acquainted with a new city after arriving. The dining and lodging recommendations have been spot on. A terrific travel book from the King of European travel books.

Solid on detail, helpful on savings, generous with dellights.
Rick Steves' Switzerland is the best of the three guide we have grabbed. A very expensive trip need background- Steves has itineraries- and tiny variations anticipating the 20% of those that need to do it a little differently. His narrative is humorous, practical, and rich with insight as to the tourists' irritations. For example, clouds descend on the mountain, flip to a fun Plan B which allows the next day to be that Plan A and clear.

How to do Switzerland...
The small nation of Switzerland straddles the Alps in western Europe. It is about the size of the U.S. states of New Hampshire and Vermont together, and perhaps more challenging to explore, thanks to its rugged terrain. Rick Steves has some suggestions for the enterprising traveler in this new guide. In addition to its iconic mountains, forests, alpine lakes and rivers, Switzerland is divided by languages into four different regions. Each has a slightly different take on Swiss culture. The author suggests some careful planning in advance, to get to what you really want to see in the way of historic buildings, cathedrals and museums, unique cuisine, and of course the magnificent scenery. Take advantage of an efficient railway network that allows the enterprising traveler to see the sights while someone else drives. As with other Rick Steves guides, it pays to read the whole book before making choices and planning your journey. The guide includes an enticing selection of color and black and white photographs, and lots of useful maps for exploring Swiss cities. Well recommended to the enterprising traveler.

We rarely travel without one of Rick's books. We purchase them when planning and use as a guide for all things within the area. The maps are good in the book too.
