McAfee 2018 Total Protection - 5 Devices [Old Version]

Beware of internet scam before installing product. When you type in the web address to activate the product key into the browser bar a screen should come up to insert your code, it should not be a web site selection page. I didn't realize that at first, I selected a page that redirected me to a false site. Upon entering my product key an error message was displayed saying I had to call support. The page also had a chat window where I did chat with someone who directed me to call the support number. I thought it was odd, but my computer is brand new out of box and wasn't sure if it was causing an issue. So, I called the number and a person who sounded as they were from India ( I know and work with good people from India, bad people everywhere). This guy sounded very tech savvy and was very charismatic and willing to help like so many IT help people can be. He informed me that he would have to link to my computer to see what was stopping my Mcafee download. I protested somewhat saying that I didn't understand why this product was an issue to install on a brand new pc, he says "do not worry about it, I am here to help". Like an idiot, but with suspicions I allowed him to link up to my computer, He went through looking around on my computer and explained a lot of the workings of the PC...trying to gain my confidence even more.He said he found 1000 spywares that Mcafee could not remove and that since my computer did not come with a firewall I had become infected. "Total Protection" means total...spyware included, I stared losing faith at this point, because I know windows 10 has some protection , I just plugged pc in about 15 minutes prior and was not connected to any websites other than his at this time. My intention was to apply security immediately to the pc before any thing like spyware or malware could be encountered. I then wandered if he was trying to sell me something else and sure enough he started to explain different pricing plans for firewalls. I doubt if he had any product at all, but was trying to get a credit card number. He had control of my pc, he had already looked through my files, he has my name, my phone, number, address and I assume he was also looking for accounts and passwords. being a brand new computer no information of that kind had ever been entered into the system. Wheels in my mind were turning a bit now, I happened to look down at the paperwork that came with the product and noticed the customer service numbers were different. I then told him I would call him back, disconnected from the internet immediately and called the real customer service number. They did not need to connect to the computer and Mcafee was running and protecting in minutes. I ran some full scans and found some questionable items and they were removed. Mcafee says I'm protected now... I hope so. I told the tech at Mcafee what happened, but she dismissed it without any real concern. She was nice and helpful, but I thought she would want to document the situation as a fraud alert. Anyhow, the number NOT TO CALL is 1.844.762.3338 THIS IS A SCAM NUMBER! I include it so you will recognize it if it comes up. I'm sure they have more like it. Internet search for this scam reveals that and they are listed as well. THE REAL CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER IS 1.866.622.3911. I hope this helps. Mcfee and others should be actively looking to shut these people down at every turn. I will update if a problem arises.

I bought this to replace the expensive trial version installed on my computer. Tried to uninstall the trial version thru add or remove programs as usual, then ran the McAfee removal tool as instructed. The removal tool could not totally remove the trial version. I believe there is a McAfee file that opens with the start menu, with a file open uninstall is impossible. Wound up starting my computer in safe mode, and manually removing a McAfee folder in program files. After a normal restart 2018 total protection installed properly.

I tried to download on 4/20/18 when I rec'd product. There were several error messages. I called support #1-844-445-8574. Tech support remotely accessed my computer he said I had trogan virus and for them to remove virus it would cost me $100.00. I refused he hung up saying they could not help me. I took my computer to get it diagnosed, it had virus, was cleaned. I lost all my data files and pictures bec I did not want to pay $250.00. I opted to have my labtop totally wiped clean and paid $139.00 plus. Now today, I get it back, tried to download the product key and it says : Your Product key has been redeemed successfully but the setup could not be started! Call To Redeem Your Product Key.Toll-Free 1-844-799-2499. The error occurs because of out-of-date Operating system components related to XML Core Services (XML). XML is a set of services that allow applications written in JScript, VBScript, or McAfee development tools to build Windows-native XML-based applications. We recommend that you call us in order to fix it. (So what I don't understand about this is that I had McAfee on my computer. It expired in 12/2017. I uninstalled the software like I did in 2016 to get a new product key and downloaded. Now in 2018 it's says my computer components are outdated, but the product key has been redeemed successfully? I want my money back).

I was very apprehensive before purchasing because of problems Norton software. But very happy to say I loaded the software on all my 5 devices without any problem. Thank you, it is good value for the money.

This was not a hard copy CD edition. If it was better explained in the presentation of this product, it would have saved me a lot of time waiting for it to arrive. It is the same as a digital download version. It cost extra too. Don't bother. I thought I was ordering the hard copy version because I was out of town and didn't want to download a digital version of McAfee from an insecure WiFi connection.

First of all it's a digital download. No hard copy. So you have to go to the website anyway. Then since I have a splotchy connection where I live, I wound up having to call customer support to get it to load properly. The product works as described. No issues with that. So I guess if you have a good internet connection go for it

It did surprise me when i had to remove my old version before i could install the new version but it works fine .

This is a good product ,but it won’t work for I pad ,which can not update to IOS 13 and newer version , mine could up date to 12.5.5 and I couldn’t install ,so I returned it , this seller and customer service We’re very honest and understood the situation ,went out of their ways to help me and refunded me . I would strongly recommend in future purchases to deal with this great honest team . I wish them success .
