Robot ,That is an Alexa Smart Device !
I have had Lynx for about a month now, I can say it is an entertaining little device. The Robot can be controlled in a remote control fashion with the free lynx app.It can and does work as a security camera . The concern that some have for it's lack ofnight vision is not a real issue if you have smart bulbs , which can be bought for about10 bucks or higher . I have found that with the motion sensor it picks up either way . It will send a 30 second video of what's making it go off. I then flip on the lights from anyremote location and it can see ,as well as record just fine then . plus freak out who or what everset it off. you can also remotely view its surroundings with avatar mode like any cam with abilityto rotate with a remote control device. You can turn Lynx head side to side up and down ,even talk thru to room occupants via mic and speakers that act as its ears. It walks slow but dances and turns fast .But what biped robot doesn't that cost under a few thousand bucks. Now, when leaving it at the housealone to be used for camera , it does need to stay plugged in. Battery charge last an hour maybe a bitmore while just standing around. You can also by extra batteries from Ubtech for 33 plus shipping. Which brings me to one point that at first was a real pain and that was getting a response from tech support. Once you make contact though its not as bad or hard to keep InTouch.I Like the thing, its kind of cool to have . So, don't expect it to be as capable as NAO but your also notspending 10 grand either . For the Novelty of it ,Lynx is pretty good and is functional for those who enjoya bit different version of Alexa echo type devices. Its a really cool kind of Alexa bot ,ask it everything you would ask the echo ,even to do list turn on smart devices as well as make calls thru certain ,skills/apps . I could go on and on.Hope this helps to make a choice , to buy or not to buy.

Kept on falling over, cracked it's forehead the first day
This was given as a Christmas gift to me by my husband. I have been eyeing this robot for a while and the Alexa integration meant that it would be "smart". I am an AI geek and also have a other androids/robots that I own. This is a fun "Alexa-enabled toy".There is no night vision in surveillance mode. When the robot walks forward, it is not fluid enough at least I think for the price tag.The Alexa integration is awesome and flawless. Works well with my Echo devices at home. All my ECHO devices are set as "COMPUTER" as the wake word. Lynx does not have the capability to change it.It has a lot of animated dances in "Avatar Mode". But, it kept on falling forward - it is top heavy.I had the Lynx on both carpet and tile floors without any problems. But, at two of the built in dances, the Lynx fell on its head and now, the head is cracked. This needs to be fixed and I think that this is a major problem. If you want a different Alexa experience, this is the robot for you - as long as you do not intend to make it dance. The built in Yoga instructions are not animated enough. The robot stands there in more than half of the sequences.A lot more to develop.I wish I could return mine as I believe that the robot should not be falling on its head on level ground.

Will Be Great for Some and Pointless for Others
First I have to say this product isn’t for everyone. Unless your family is really into robotics and loves using Alexa (we fit both categories) it’s probably more money than you want to spend. If you just want a robot, there are cheaper ones out there. If you just want access to Alexa, there are cheaper devices. If, however, you want a robot that combines Alexa with fun activities and some security features this will likely be a good choice for you.Setup was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be. While I think they could have done a better job with the instruction manual (it’s really just a phamplet), the basics are there to get you started and into the app where you can figure out the rest. You’ll need an Alexa account and app as well as the Lynx account and app and they should both be the same login details as your Amazon account to get the most out of this product. While there aren’t a whole lot of skills right now, I’m sure they will be coming out with more. Right now you can have Lynx take pictures, act as a mobile video monitor in survellience mode, video record what’s going on in your house, and even teach you Yoga.So far we haven’t run into any problems at all using Lynx. It’s great to have a little mobile Alexa unit and it’s nice to have access to the security features. Overall I would say that while this is a bit pricey, once more skills are added I can definitely see it being worth it. It all depends on how much use one can get out of the current features offered. As I said, those who love Alexa and robotics will be the biggest market for Lynx.
