It helps relieve stress and anxiety
Easy to read and understand. Exercises and principles to try and work through. It encourages a new way to focus the mind and perhaps calm down.

It’s a fantastic book and really opens your mind to help deal with life situations
Well written, easy to understand, good written exercises to complete throughout the book.

unable to see the diagrams writing too small
A brilliant summary of CBT. Shame the writings on the diagrams are too small to read on a Kindle.

Helpful and well put-together
Bought this as a gift for a family member who wanted to give CBT a go after suffering some anxiety problems. Before I gave it to her, I had a good read through myself, as I am familiar with the basic principles and techniques. This is a well-explained little workbook, which covers all the basics in an easy-to-follow manner, is not at all intimidating, and has some great real-life examples and exercises to do. The recipient has really gotten into it, she has been working through the exercises, using examples from her day-to-day life and she thinks it is really helping her to get a handle on her anxiety and understand how to change her way of thinking. Don't get me wrong, this isn't going to magically cure serious mental health issues, but as an introduction to the subject and techniques used this is a great entry point.

I learnt to override my instincts and it upset my other half
This book was teaching me some interesting things… and also to not always believe I had upset people and that sometimes it is all in the mind…yes, sometimes it is all in the mind… but not always… so there I was wondering why my other half seemed upset and then I was applying the idea of it all being in my mind… things felt rather uneasy for a few days… but I kept applying CBT and telling myself it was likely all in my mind and that my other half was probably just tired etc… until all of a sudden my other half explodes with a lot of things that I had said that had upset them… had I not been applying CBT I would have asked them early on if there was anything wrong and trusted my natural instincts, but because I was ignoring my natural instincts, my other half suffered… thankfully things have been patched up and it looks like there was a misunderstanding, but it isn’t always in one’s mind, or one’s own perception of others that is incorrect, only sometimes… this book does have another technique about recalling happy memories that is supposed to cheer one up and that does work… so I would say, proceed carefully and try to learn techniques to help one not to panic unnecessarily… but also be ready to check with others around you if they seem upset, just incase it is not an incorrect perception.

Very practical and easy introduction to CBT
This book was recommended to me by a friend and I found it a very interesting and readable introduction to CBT. There are many practical exercises which if you actually work your way through them (rather than just reading past them as I did the first time round!), it can really change your perceptions of things going on in your life and how to approach them. I recommend it to anyone who would like to know more about CBT or who feels they may be in some sort of a rut and would like some tools to help them move on in their lives

Excellent book, perfect intro to CBT
My teenage son was having anxiety problems and CBT was recommended to me as a possible strategy. The book is about A5 size(ish) really easy to read and understand as it has some examples. There are pages to be completed as you go through the workbook to help challenge your behaviour. A great book, highly recommended. Not Americanised, just plain English.

Helpful
I suffer with anxiety and other problems and this book seems to be helpful. It has lots of little exercises to fill out along the way and helps you understand what and why you're feeling a certain way. I haven't finished it yet but I would definitely recommend this to someone with similar issues to me! Another things is it's a small little book so it would be easy to take with you and just read up and remind yourself of the exercises when you need them!
