Kakeibo: The Japanese Art of Budgeting & Saving Money Paperback – 23 Nov. 2017

I knew I had disposable income but yet I would get to the end of the month and never have anything spare. Some months I would even bring money over from my current savings. I was getting sick of it.This month I started Kakeibo and already I am up hundreds more than usual. I am coming in under my weekly budget with ease . I made a target of £200 to save this month but if I keep coming in under, I will save £550.It's amazing how seeing it all written down can help you see the value in little spends! Going week by week really helps the spending goals too as it's easy to go 7 days without spending much and then once that's over you can do another 7. It's much easier to not be tempted into spending little and often.It's also easy to see where you're going wrong each month and if there's some outgoings that could be cut off.I have recommended this to my friends who struggle too and I recommend to anyone reading this review. Is there anything the Japanese haven't perfected? This is a life-changer. I'm only upset I didn't start sooner. My goal for the year is closer that I thought.

Great book. I've been making budgets for years and not been able to stick to them. This book makes it super clear if you have the money or not. I've made good progress with it, more so than any other method I've tried. It is simple and you could probably write it out for yourself, but the book is made beautifully and is easy to use.I will certainly be buying another copy for next year and probably every year then on.Thanks to the creator

I find the ritual of completing the weekly and monthly Kakeibo sections makes me think more about keeping my expenditure within my income and this encourages me to save. I fear having to record large impulse buys in this book and going over my spending limits. My only complaint is that this only has enough pages for one year. A cheaper edition without the explanatory introduction and less adornment would be welcome - but if the original continues to be reduced then I will keep buying it each year.

This is a very pleasant Kakeibo journal, with some nicely coloured and arranged sections.Please note this is actually a journal, rather than a book about Kakeibo. Only the first few pages (less than 10 I think) are about Kakeibo and what the process is (essentially (i) work out your income, (ii) work out your necessary expenditure, (iii) plan for any large scale one off payments and then (iv) track your actual expenditure and try to keep it within the projection).The rest of the book is a set of 'blank' form pages for calculating and tracking income and expenditure on a weekly and monthly basis.As such, whilst this is a nice book I have only give it three stars as there are a number of other products that do the same thing, but which cost less and I don't think the coloured pages are worth the extra money (Ironically it would not be in keeping with Kakeibo to buy a more expensive version of something which can be obtained elsewhere for less money....).

Changed my life. Buy it... budget serenity awaits.

Have been using this book for a few months now, can't say I've saved much but really does help me track my spending and shows up where I waste money. .mainly coffees and impulse buys! Makes me a lot more mindful where my hard earned wages go.

Such a useful book, really helped me get a grip on what I'm spending and what it is possible to save. Feels so good to have this organisation in place. I may not have more money coming in (yet) but I feel so much calmer and zen like about it and hopeful that I will achieve my savings goal!

LOVE! This workbook is so easy to follow and it’s helped me save so much! Plus helped me keep a budget and stick with it!

Just what I needed

This expense diary is quite useful, the cover is a little scratched but it doesn't really bother me because the inside is intact and I only want it to keep track of my expenses and savings. The interior is nice and contains an explanation of the method, how to start the process and the advantages of keeping a journal to record expenses. It also explains how to make a spending plan, how to keep records of weekly expenses and how to review expenses and achieve the savings goal you set. I always keep records of my expenses and savings in Excel and with the bank app of my monthly expenses, but somehow writing it down in a diary helps me be more aware of the expenses and how much I have available for the rest of the week or the month. The kakeibo method can be used perfectly with digital money (payments with cards, apps, etc.) unlike other methods such as envelopes that require the use of cash.

I have used this journal for one month now and I intend to continue with the Kakeibo practice for the rest of my life. Finally, I'm in the driver's seat of my finances! The journal is easy to use and offers an excellent overview of one's spending and saving. Thanks to using the journal every day for all of my expenses, I am staying on track with my budgeting.I highly recommend this journal for anyone who wants to take control of their finances to create abundance!

very good quality paper. everything is there. Good for newly earning people. So they can manage their money. After learning the method you don't have to buy again . you can easily use normal copy.
