I've tried every pair of sleep buds
To put my experience in context I've had a lot of sleep devices that I've used every night since 2018: -Bose Sleepbuds v1.0 (brilliant comfort & sound library, warranty replacement due to battery failure)5 PAIRS of Bose Sleepbuds v2.0 (same brilliant comfort & sound library, warranty replacements due to battery failures...)Amazfit Zenbuds (early adopter £67). Bought as a backup due to the amount of time my Bose Soundbuds were absent due to warranty replacements. Comfort & sound are okay, but the battery life is dreadful.QuietOn 1.0 (early adopter, £177). Honestly, I wore them once (briefly), couldn't sleep, like having 6 inch nails inserted into your ears - genuinely a painful experience, and active noise cancelling in a sleep device is no match (IMHO) for noise masking. AWFUL (their new ones might be better, who knows). My Soundcore A10's are as close as you'll currently get to the Bose Sleepbuds. Bose were 10/10 for comfort, Soundcore are 8.5/10 (very good) - even for side sleepers. The A10 sound library is also good - the Snoring Attenuation sound is particularly effective. My only minor complaints are it's not as loud, there is only one traditional "beep beep" alarm tone, and the ear tips aren't "Bose" quality - still perfectly good though. The A10's have the bonus of being Bluetooth headphones - but I don't use them to listen to music - so won't comment on the quality. Now I'll happily use either my "perfect" Bose Sleepbuds (sadly no longer available - I think I've used all their old stock by now...) or the Soundcore A10's - really no major/noticeable difference between the two.Time will tell if Soundcore have capable long-life batteries - hopefully being an Anker company they have the technology. Finally - these are down to £79 - so you can't go wrong.BTW - turning the A10 alarm off gives you an extra 20% battery life, and keeping the volume at 50% ish really will make the battery last longer - 10 hours is definitely possible.

Effective and functional
These sleep buds are certainly on the quiet side but this is due to limitations on the battery size. A compromise between volume and length of play time is necessary in a product this small.I think the balance is reasonable as anything loud is likely to keep you awake and they will last till morning if you use the App sleep function in combination with your own sound sources.Another thing likely to keep you awake with most buds is a pain in the ear from side sleeping.I use a pillow that has a cut out in the centre, so less pressure when using buds. When used with these tiny A10s, there’s no pressure at all, though they have fallen into that hole a few times and you may need to search for one or both buds in the mornings.Others have mentioned that these can be used to listen to music and audiobooks at bedtime and they are certainly suitable for at least an hour or so for that. But the best feature is the auto switching to white noise (or pink / brown / ambient nature for sleep) which doesn’t rely on the Bluetooth connection and therefore will play longer than other sleep buds. This can also be switched on with a manual tap.It would be great to be able to change the content on the fly, but you must choose the “sleeping sound” in the app and upload it to the buds. This can be easily changed in the App, but you don’t really want to be looking at a screen after going to bed. There’s a very wide and impressive selection of colored noise and ambient sounds, but you will likely choose one and just stick with it.I have also preordered a similar product from Kokoon and hope to compare this at a later date. It has a larger battery, but the early models relief on constant streaming of the coloured noise / ambient sound track, which isn’t as reliable as the Soundcore A10 approach. The new version of Kokoon isn’t available yet so can’t really compare the functionality.Whether these A10s will wake you with their alarm in the morning is questionable; they will be fairly low on power after 7 hours and you will only hear the alarm if they are still in your ears.I’ve had a lot of to and frowing with Anker support since buying these and that side of things could have been better, but they have eventually resolved the issue I had, so I can’t complain. My recommendation is that you give them a try and see if they suit you; the auto sound masking has worked well for me and is the perfect transition from an audiobook into sleep. I can’t comment on the long term reliability, but when they are working, they’re very effective.

Almost excellent
These are good but not quite as good as the Amazefit zenbuds I had previously that are no longer available. Although the range of sleep sounds is wider, there are a few key things missing. You can set an alarm but you have to set it daily rather than being able to set it for every week day etc. In addition the buds seem to default to music mode so if you just want to use sleep mode you have to go into the app every night to set it to sleep mode and to set your alarm. This wasn't a problem with the zenbuds as they only had one mode. I'm not likely to use the music mode so for me this is frustrating. The buds are comfortable after some changing the different components they come with to make them fit different ear sizes. However they don't sit flush with ear as well as my zenbuds did and so sometimes you don't hear the sound as well if you lay your head in the wrong position and the ear bud shifts. This was eased by getting the right fit of components but still happens. The app itself is easy to use and the buds hold their charge well, easily lasting 8 hours on sleep mode. I do like them but I preferred my zenbuds.EDIT: after a month of use, I still like these earbuds. It taken a while to get the right size earpiece and they still have a tendency to loosen in my ear but not fall out. This has fixe most of the sound issues though. The most frustrating thing is not being able to set a regular alarm in the earbuds. You have to set the alarm every night once you remove the earbuds from the case, which means using your phone and bluelight right before trying to sleep. I expected better from anker, such a simple tweak to make...maybe in a future update?
