Rustins Pre Stain Wood Conditioner 500ml

Excellent product, part of a range of high quality wood-care products. Was slightly sceptical that the product would work as stated, but it is a very good pre-stain prep. coating, especially as regards lighter shades (such as light oak/natural oak). Have used it for inside and exterior wood- it coats well, but, as always, just make sure you give it plenty of time to penetrate the wood, and to 'cure'.

Works perfectly. It helped stabilize soft wood before staining, preventing uneven absorption of dye or stain. Does the job well!

Bought for my indoor project with pine wood and the results were really outstanding. I am really pleased to use it before staining. It help a perfect even finish. It’s odorless and dried in no time. Only thing that pissed me was that it was leaking in the package and it was messy. Probably 20% was lost but thankfully it was still enough for my project so I continued working with it.

This really helped to improve the wood before staining

so i tried this alongside lubiron's grain filler and a different version of paste (which you added with a bit of mineral spirit to thin) and rubbed onto the wood before staining. out of the 3, this was BY FAR the worst. I used two coats because 1 did nothing but raise the grain ...light sanded it down and re-coated. Still did absoltely nothing. I was using very crap pine wood from B&Q but honestly the other conditioners were only oay to some extent, this did literally nothing. I can't give any less stars and honestly in future will reommend people stay away from rustins in general unless it's literally the only thing in the shop.
