PUDDLES ONLY
For making small shallow PUDDLES this is quick and gives great results. Random puddles around a model rail yard etc only a few mil deep at most. I think the few negative comments appear to be from people using this for deeper water for which it is not designed. Realistic water or deep pour resins are what you need for model rivers, ponds or sea.

Ideal.
If used correctly as instructed on the bottle, this product is great and gives a top rate effect of not so much muddy, but algae water puddles. It must be applied in thin layers, each one after the previous has completely dried, otherwise as it is self-levelling it would be easy to get a "flood" on areas where not required, so patience is essential. I have, in the past tried other makes but will now only use this as it does everything required.

Very Disappointing
Didn't think much of this at all and won't be buying or using it again. Reasons as follows: > Needs a lot of shaking / stirring to get the pigment distributed, which produces tiny bubbles. These take ages to disperse, by which time, you need to shake it again as the pigment has started to settle. So I ended up with bubbles in my puddle, as the layer dried before they were released. > Does not level very well. Because you have to apply several thin layers, you don't get the depth required for it to conform to uneven surfaces, and each subsequent layer just builds up into an even lumpier copy of the one before it. > It shrinks a LOT as it dries. This can result in curled edges and even splits, pretty much ruining the effect you're after. > It's difficult to work with. It sets like a very firm rubber, so that any overspill or mess from the curling / splitting, as described above, cannot easily be rectified. You can't sand or grind it, obviously. And cutting it neatly with even a brand new surgical blade is challenging. Basically, I bought this as a quick-and-easy alternative to tinted resin, but it ended up costing me way more time than it saved me, trying to tidy-up the effects of its many shortcomings. Aside from not having to mix it yourself - this does nothing that tinted resin doesn't already do. Waste of money, time and nearly ruined the diorama I used it on. No thanks.
