MASTER 700

As with all the Wolfcraft products I've purchased so far, this workbench does not disappoint; I bought it to replace my Black & Decker workbench. It adjusts high enough to be comfortable (I'm 5'6"), the bench area is large enough, there is a lever to fold the sturdy base easily. It seems like Wolfcraft thought of everything. On the whole, it's miles better than my old B&D workbench & it's better made, too, as with many German manufactured products. Organising the screw/bolt/washer sizes, to assemble it properly, was about the only thing that was taxing. I would highly recommend this purchase for any DIYer.

I originally considered a B&D workmate but the poor reviews put me off. The positive reviews for this item swung the deal. A perfect example of this workbench would merit 5 stars but mine arrived in a damaged box and once built an hour later, the height adjustment didn't operate due to corrosion inside the frames. Rather than dismantle and return the item, I lubricated the members and applied some considerable force to get the action working after a fashion. After the oil had penetrated some hours later, it became obvious that the action is spring assisted. It seems the spring had seized. Oiling seems to have cured the defect but I will give it a few more days and keep testing before I decide whether I keep it or it goes back for a replacement. Regarding the item itself, at full height it's high enough to let me work without bending. It has a large work surface and seems stable enough for most normal activities. The build instructions could be clearer but once you realise there's text to go with the diagrams it all becomes clear. Overall, a good buy.

Quick to set-up, well made and versatile. I ordered this after returning my second faulty Black & Decker "Workmate", in terms of quality there is no comparison and the Wolfcraft is definitely worth the extra money.

Like many other reviewers my workbench arrived damaged. The box seemed intact so I guess the internal packaging was not up to the job. One of the main plastic clamping handles was completely snapped off rendering the bench useless. I have returned it for a full refund and not a replacement as I have no confidence in getting an undamaged product given the experience of others. It's a shame really as those who have used the bench seem to like it and I certainly think its well built and really liked the adjustable height facility.

Overall very happy with this, especially as I was particularly looking for a bench that could offer a higher than normal working height. Opens and closes very easily and have had no problems with the latches. There are a couple of things I feel could be better: - the plastic blocks used to hold items for clamping are not really strong enough and tend to flex a little when clamping. - the side clamps for the table, and the frame support bars are pretty much in line with the opening of the table clamping slot, making it difficult or impossible to hold something tall. It would have been better if the top table was flipped round by 180deg, to move the opening away from these parts.

Good versatility, great to have the height adjustment. One real negative is the top is made from mdf. Not good. Such a shame for the price.

Good stability, possibility to adjust one leg to get it stable is appreciated. The bar handle to unlock the folding of the legs is a bit hard to get to unlock.

Me ha sorprendido la solided y estabilidad del banco, a pesar de que el mismo sea plegable. Para mí ha cumplido sobradamente mis necesidades, centradas en trabajos esporádicos fundamentalmente de corte con disco y con sierra de calar de tablones y listones; siendo para mí imprescindible que fuese plegable por no disponer de suficiente espacio. El único pero que le he visto es que a mí me cuesta bastante liberar el seguro que bloquea el banco para poder plegarlo. A pesar de esta pequeña pega, estoy muy contento con la compra.

Eines vorweg: Dieser Spann- und Werkzeugtisch kann gegen einen stationäre Werkbank mit Schraubstock natürlich nicht anstinken. Aber dafür ist ja auch nicht gemacht, sondern eher für den mobilen Einsatz, wenn Arbeiten zu erledigen sind, die einen stabilen Arbeitstisch erfordern und keine Werkstatt oder ähnliche Einrichtung verfügbar ist. Generell gestaltet sich der Aufbau/Zusammenbau als sehr einfach. Wer frei nach dem Tim-Taylor-Motto "Real men don't need instructions" stets und gerne vorgeht, soll das tun. Der weiß dann auch, was er macht bzw. wird schon sehen, was er davon hat. Für alle anderen gilt: der Blick in die Aufbauanleitung ist kein Schande und enorm hilfreich. Da hat sich offensichtlich der ein oder andere Vorrezensient in seinen Kenntnissen ein wenig überschätzt, war aber auch nicht schlau genug die beiliegende Anleitung zu lesen. Da wundert es auch nicht, wenn dann unqualifizierte Aussagen zum Thema Aufbau gemacht werden. Da fehlt es wohl nicht nur am technischen Sachverstand. Der Tisch ist sehr stabil: keinerlei Wackeln und auf Unebenheit kann man das Niveau ausgleichen. Auch die Einspannvorrichtung ist in Ordnung. Bretter, Rohre und sonstiges lassen sich sicher und zuverlässig einspannen und bearbeiten. Die Bohrungen und das mitgelieferte Befestigungsmaterial gestatten den Aufbau und die sichere Befestigung von Zusatzgeräten wie Kappsäge, Bohrständer oder sonstige Hilfsmittel und Werkzeugen. Die wirklich einfach zu handhabende und hervorragende Höhenverstellung sucht man bei vielen Konkurrenzprodukten vergeblich. Für meine 195 cm ist sie mehr als ausreichend hoch zu verstellen und es lässt sich angenehm und rückenschonend arbeiten. Wenn man sie ganz nach unten stellt, bietet sie auch Sitzriesen einen hohen Nutzwert. Das Zusammenklappen für das platzsparende Wegstellen oder den Transport (passt in jeden Kofferraum) ist nach ein wenig Übung ruckzuck bewerkstelligt. Umgekehrt ist auch das Aufstellen keine Raketenwissenschaft; da klemmt nichts und ist mit wenigen Handgriffen erledigt. Erwähnenswert ist auch die Tatsache, dass man am Werktisch ein super Beinfreiheit genießt: da ist nichts im Wege. Man kann unten auf einen Querholm treten, um dem Tisch eine zusätzliche Stabilität zu verleihen, wenn es mal etwas gröber am Werkstück zugeht. Allein die Arbeitsplatte erntet aus meiner Sicht Kritik: Der sieht man an sehr schnell an, dass darauf/damit gearbeitet wird. Einmal nicht aufgepasst und man hat schnell ne Macke oder ähnliches Ungemach der Platte zugeführt. Das ist offensichtlich eine MDF-Platte, die meiner Ansicht nach zu wenig Festigkeit unter der KU(?)-Kaschierung aufweist (zu "weich" im Material). Kleine Bauteile/Werkstücke drücken sich ins Material, wenn man ein bisschen zu harsch anzieht. Das Einspannen von Werkstücken sollte man mit gebotener Umsicht vornehmen. Man kann da nichts festknallen wie in einem Schraubstock. Für eine Bearbeitung ist die Einspannkraft aber ausreichend. Ich habe mir jetzt zwei Alu-Winkel zurechtgeschnitten (10x20x150mm), die bei Bedarf den Anpressdruck gleichmäßiger auf die Einspannfläche verteilen. Jetzt gibt es auch keine Macken/Kerben mehr. Mal schauen, wie sich das langfristig so macht. Vielleicht werde ich die beiden Platten gegen solche aus Hartholz austauschen, wenn es gar nicht mehr geht. Die Arbeitsplattenoberfläche verfügt über aufgedruckte Skalen und Winkelangaben, haben aber eher kosmetischen Charakter. Das braucht man nicht wirklich und dient allenfalls als Orientierung. Messen erledigt man besser mit dem Maßband und einem Winkelmesser. Ich bin auf jeden Fall sehr, wirklich sehr zufrieden und nutze das gute Stücke bei Arbeiten, die ich nicht in meiner Werkstatt erledigen kann. Der Arbeitstisch erhält von mir trotz der im Material verbesserungswürdigen Arbeitsplatte 5 Sterne.
