The Kid Killer - An Inspector Saralkar Mystery

Good but underwhelmed
MILD SPOILERS: I liked the beginning, there were several plausible suspects with motives. There were secrets as well and some tension within the victim's family. Another (cold) case was linked to the murder. My expectations were high. However the ending was very underwhelming. I was left unsatisfied and bothered. I wished the perpetrator was someone else, who was visible throughout the story. The ending felt rushed. Least favorite of this series.

A Non Stop One Sitting Gripping Read.
THE KID KILLER : Salil Desai : It’s not an usual thing nowadays for me to finish a book in one sitting, especially a paper book. Apart from Time and Inclination , I am also so addictively habituated to the Kindle, that unless a book is exceptionally interesting, it’s pretty rare that I would be sucked into it’s world for a good few hours. Six hours and 365 pages later, I can happily say that the engrossing was worth it.I have enjoyed all of Salil’s exciting crime thrillers and have been a fan of his affable Inspector Saralkar and his various exploits. But I see a character shift here. The man is far more peaceful and surprisingly his family doesn’t feature in this adventure. Maybe he is evolving like the author. But actually it’s a relief to keep family problems and personal cop issues out of the equation. Too many people are doing it and it’s pretty tiresome and repetitive. The problem with reviewing a whodunnit is that one must tread as cautiously as the perpetrator so as to not reveal any plot points which might give away the essentials. So it’s safe to say that a kid gets killed and the murder is solved by the erstwhile Inspector and his team. The how, who and why are explained in the neatly printed pages of this Fingerprint Publication classic.I hated the title of the book because I love children and anyone hurting and abusing them deserve nothing less than the capital punishment as far as I am concerned. Maybe that’s why there are places in the novel which makes my blood boil. The pace is good with plots and subplots merging shifting timelines which all lead to an unexpected and shocking climax. The Kid Killer : Salil Desai and Saralkar are at the top of their game in this one too. Definitely recommended especially for readers who enjoy investigative crime thrillers. For the non readers there is good news too. Inspector Saralkar and his exploits will be soon beamed to a web series near u. 😊

A killer book
This is my first read in the Saralkar series by Salil Desai. Having read this I am eager to complete other books in series. This is a complete whodunit written in a manner you will never be able to guess the twists and turns. Salil is a master author who takes you down some grim lanes but keeps the narrative flowing. Woven with current events Kid Killer is easily one of his best works. Go read it

A heart-stopping hunt for a child killer that will leave you breathless
Salil Desai's 'The Kid Killer' is a masterfully crafted murder mystery that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The story revolves around the murder of 11-year-old Pranjal Bhatti, whose bloated body is found in Pune's Mutha river, only 72 hours after he was kidnapped on his way to tuition. Senior Inspector Saralkar and PSI Motkar take charge of the case and soon find themselves dealing with a complex web of suspects and motives.Desai's writing is both engaging and suspenseful, as he leads the reader through a maze of clues and red herrings. The characters are well-drawn, with their personal struggles adding depth to the story. The Indian city of Pune provides a rich and realistic backdrop for the plot, making the book a treat for readers who are familiar with the city.Overall, 'The Kid Killer' is a must-read for fans of murder mysteries who enjoy a well-crafted plot and authentic characters. Salil Desai has once again delivered a gripping and unputdownable novel, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a thrilling and thought-provoking read.
