DEWALT Mechanics Tool Set, 1/4" & 3/8" & 1/2" Drive, SAE/Metric, 205-piece (DWMT81534)

I bought a new project car (BMW E30) and decided to treat myself to a new set of tools and hopefully the last set I'll ever need to buy.DeWalt has a reputation for making long lasting hand tools and back it up with the lifetime guarantee. I can't imagine ever needing to replace these tools but it's reassuring to know I'm covered.The spanners offset head design is great with tight tolerances - This reduces chances of rounding off bolts and makes them narrow enough for those hard to get to places. The shafts have a subtle ergonomic shape along the length that prevents slippage. It looks dead straight but has very slight ridges for your fingers. You wouldn't pick it in the photos but the end result is that they feel good in your hands during use. You'll understand when you hold them.The engraving on the tools is easy to read and the etching gives good tactile response. Only one of my spanners had a small divot out of it's head (see picture) and probably shouldn't have slipped through quality control. I'll contact DeWalt to see about replacing it. Otherwise the chrome finish is exceptional.I have put a number of the sockets to use already and they performed well. The ratchets have a nice firm 'click' during operation. The width of the handles is just right too, they feel solid & durable.The case is laid out well and holds all the pieces firmly in place - Mine turned up with just one set of Alan keys loose after international shipping. The buckles are metal and the case feels like it could stand up to a lot of punishment.To sum it up - This tool set is filled with just about everything the home mechanic could need without a bunch of unnecessary filler items. A great selection of useful empirical & metric pieces in a quality case. You'd be hard pressed to find a better set for the money. You'd really need to step up to Snap-On (or equivalent $) for a better tool. These are fraction of the price and amazing value for the quality.FYI - the case does not come with the colour coded numbering. I added that with a couple of paint pens, it improves visibility at a glance and gave my OCD something to do for a couple of hours.

Tool set has pretty much everything you need. Great set and very well made. I will say it is heavy, but there are a lot of tools in the box so that is expected. Suggest putting it in a toolbox or a roll cart tool case.

Great kit for the price if you can catch it for around $100. Knocked off a star because of the case and the lack of a 12mm wrench. Several sockets fall out of the bottom row of the top half of the case on a regular basis. Skipping the 12mm wrench is a fail. Set includes 11mm and 13mm but no 12mm. Not seen that before and did not realize before purchasing. Also note that the ratchets in this set are not the quick-release type if that matters to you. Nice mid-grade set otherwise and is a great value at $100.

My boyfriend bought this for the car maintain e and it’s so amazing even a grill boss can get their hands dirty with this set. The fits are super snug and allow for you to really “get in there”. I used this to replace a serpentine belt on a compact car and the grip, magnet strength and general organization of bolt sizes made the job super easy. I see this being in our garage for a looooong time. Durability is written all over this shinny set, snag one now not later.

The media could not be loaded. Needed to upgrade from my old cheap temu tool box to a bigger and better quality tool box. Dewalt doesn’t primarily make automotive tools so I was a bit skeptical getting this tool box but after getting the tool box I can’t say I’m disappointed one bit. Sockets are durable comes with a lot of sizes, drives, wrenches, etc… basically has everything I need. I probably will end up keeping this box forever and never replacing it.I have been using it everyday for my auto work and it’s standing up to its needsAlso can’t help but admire how beautiful the polishing looks.
