Carmilla

A quick, atmospheric gothic tale. I enjoyed it very much. La Fanu is a wonderfully descriptive writer. The book is scary, but not too frightening. Excellent.

This is one of the original tales of early vamparism. It is beautifully written in the usual Gothic style, similar to Frankenstein and Dracula, with an enamoring tale from start to finish.A must-read for Gothic horror lovers.

I wanted to get the book that inspired the web series of the same name. It did not disappoint although the web series is more in depth with the supernatural and paranormal elements. This is more of a love story albeit a brief one.

While the pacing may not suit everyone's taste, it's this deliberate tempo that enhances the overall sense of anticipation. "Carmilla" is not just a classic; it's a haunting journey into the intricate realm of vampire lore, making it a must-read for those who appreciate the atmospheric beauty of gothic literature.

More of a mystery/drama than romance. I was misled, in my opinion. Also, the romance is unrequited as the main character keeps questioning her feelings.

I received "Carmilla" a day early (Oct. 9) and in pristine condition...I've already started to read it and am enjoying it very much! Just in time for Halloween...Perfect!

Interesting. Short but enjoyable. As a horror-fan I am surprised this went below my radar for so long.

Put this off for a while as I thought it wouldn't live up to the hype, but glad I put the time into reading it as it is really well written

Much smaller than I expected but excited to hop in.

The format is generally fine, although the spaces between paragraphs are weirdly large. But the horrible AI illustrations in some of the chapters are unnecessary and disturbing.
