As someone brought up in the shadow of Battersea it's an interesting read, especially with all the shenanigans over its ownership and use since it closed

Great book. If you have a soft spot for the iconic power station, then this book is a must have.

Well researched and well written. I am not usually a reader of this genre but was recommended it by a friend. Really engrossing and engaging read by an author who clearly knows and is passionate about his subject.

A simply excellent book, and as the author notes, one that is surprising it had not been written before. Peter Watts has written an engaging and fascinating book, ostensibly the history of Battersea Power Station, but also a social history of London, and the evolution of a city's priorities.Like many, I have watched the flows and ebbs of the plans for the power station, but it is only on reading this book, you fully understand the trials and tribulations that have gone on behind the scenes in the various development projects. The authors' style of prose makes it easy to emphasise with those involved on all sides of the process. On reading I was quick to share and understand the sense of frustration that has surrounded the development, or lack thereof! It is hard not to share Watts' conclusion that the current plan, whilst likely to be delivered, disappoints and somehow cheapens the station itself.This book is well written, and does not require either a deep interest or understanding of power systems, or property development. Would recommend to everyone.
